Even I thought a Steph less Warrior team might struggle against Portland. You would never know that based on the way the Warriors came out in game 1. 37-17 Warriors! And that was after the first quarter. Wow! Do you think that team was pumped just a bit in the 1st quarter. Just a bit I would say. They did cool off and who wouldn't after a 1st quarter margin of 20 (about). Warrior held on and won by 8 or 9 points. As I see it, when Steph comes back we may have a team that is now better by 20% overall (excluding almost nothing)then before Steph got hurt.
I wasn't sure if this Warrior team had a chance to repeat or not. If there overall performance continues anything half as good as it was in the first quarter of gamee 1 they just might be in the finals with a very good chance of repeating .
My only concern would be the energy level. Right now the Warriors are playing with a very high energy level. Can the players repeat that in every game? Only time will tell but...
When I was in college my coach demanded that we always play at a high energy level at both ends of the court. Our entire starting five and the 6th and 7th players who always received most of the playing time ran out of energy both mentally and physically in the regional finals. Nothing left. Our minds wanted to for the most part but the bodies said slow down. I remember no matter how hard I pushed myself to not believe it but I really did not want to be there that day. Same can be said for other on the team.
Hope that doesn't happen to this team. Team leader anybody? I can not imagine that happening to Golden State. (Please change this awful name.)Golden State, really? They couldn't come up with something better. Where is Golden State, anyways? I can not find it on the map1
