  • Enough Already about "The Great" Kobe

I am sick of all the accolades about Kobe and here is why.

    First the player...one word narcissist.

I know he won 5 NBA titles but his first 3 were with Shaq. If he did not have Shaq on the team he would have never won those 3 NBA titles. He showed how much he appreciated Shaq that he convinced the spineless owners of the Lakers to get rid of Shaq. Again, without Shaq and I do not care who could have been there instead of Shaq Kobe would not have won those 3 titles without Shaq. At that time the NBA game was a Center Guard game. Without a star at center and guard there is no championship, period.

Kobe's other two titles he had two talented 7 footers on the team. Without them no titles.

    Kobe is a narcissist.

Kobe is no Jordon; he is no Bird; he is no Russell. True team super stars elevate the play of his teammates. Name me one player that Kobe elevated his teammates play. I can not think of one.

50 shots and all those points in his last game. Big deal. Utah already packed it in before their last game against the Lakers and the refs just looked the other way. Pass to a teamate...not in his play. Defense...I did not see any in that game by Utah. Hell I scored 35 points in my last pro game in Europe when nobody was playing defense. Kobe played the first 81 games like he played his 82nd game. All about him. All about him. That is how he played all of his games during his 20 years in the NBA.

He never matured as a teammate. NEVER.

    Kobe is a narcissist.

Oh, how well did the Lakers do the last 3 years? Just plane awful. I will divide the blame between Kobe and the spineless owners of the Lakers. I could have drafted better then the Lakers.

How many blue chip free agents wanted to play with Kobe? Can you name any? I can not.

Now his life off the court. One word... narcissist.

    Another word RAPIST.

If it wasn't for the strange laws in California where a person can write a check to avoid jail time for felony charges, Kobe would still be in jail. Does the name Michael Jackson ring any bells? Kobe admitted the rape charge (some what) by saying that "in my mind the sex was not forced but I realize now in her mind it was." If it looks and sounds like a duck it is a duck. If he raped my daughter I would have had his legs broken in pieces. He never would have played B ball again.

I don't know what is Kobe's problem is with his parents but there is no love between him and his parents. I did not see his parents at his last game.

Hell I was an average pro player in Europe but my mom came to my last game.

He is the most selfish "super star" I have ever seen.

Please, I am already throwing up about the praise Kobe will get when he pollutes the Hall of Fame with his entrance.

    Give me a break.

I have been verbally attacked at another Forum for a similar post. OK, let me make myself clear. I see Kobe's basketball skills and I agree he may be one of the best individual players ever in the NBA. Easily, Kobe is in my top 15 all time individual players ever list. Team wise Kobe doesn't make my top 25. That said in his prime all Kobe needed was a talented 7 footer and Kobe wins five, that is 5 NBA titles. Even I am impressed with that. Now that the NBA has changed since your typical 7 footer of note who could only clog up the paint on defense and dunk at the other end is no longer wanted as much. How many titles has Kobe won since the NBA began this change...none. One on one only players do not win titles in the NBA any more. Yesterday, a player ran the fast brake and took it to the basket for a lay up and looking for a foul. Today a player runs the fast brake, runs to the corner for a 3 pointer looking for the pass and gets it and bang the place explodes if at home. The 3 pointer nearly brings the place down Love the new NBA. I loved my 6 foot 9 inch Bill Russell led dynasty but this is more exciting. Steph, when I first saw you in college I said to myself something like naaahh, that kid will never make it in the NBA . I guess I was wrong. Glad I was.

Not a team player by any means and many teammates have said it. Sit's by himself doesn't talk much to them etc. IMO he does not even come close to comparing to Jordan.

Jordon made every player around him a better player. Not so with Kobe.
