Texas A&M has named Oklahoma transfer quarterback Trevor Knight the starter for the 2016 season over Jake Hubenak, according to a team news release.
"Trevor Knight will be our starter," Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin said in the release. "His on-field performance this spring along with his leadership earned him the starting job."
In joining the Aggies for his final season of eligibility, Knight, a graduate transfer, gets one last chance to recapture the fleeting magic he displayed as the Sugar Bowl MVP at the end of the 2013 season with the Sooners.
A&M needed immediate help at quarterback after Kyle Allen and former Allen standout Kyler Murray infamously transferred before the Music City Bowl in December.
