Major League Baseball legend Yogi Berra has died.

The Yogi Berra Museum posted the news to several social media accounts early Wednesday morning that the Yankees great died Tuesday night September 22nd 2015.

The 90-year-old Berra played for the New York Yankees from 1946 to 1963. He also played one season for the New York Mets in 1965.

A catcher, manager and coach, Berra was a 15-time All-Star and elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972. He’s widely regarded as one of the greatest catchers of all time. Berra appeared in 21 World Series and won 13 championships.

His No. 8 (also worn by Bill Dickey) was retired by the Yankees in 1972.

Best catcher ever probably. Not a prototypical perfect catcher (Bench and Ivan R probably had better defensive skills - a guy like Jose Azcue stuck around the game cuz he could nail base stealers) , but offensively yes he had a healthy amount of homeruns, rbis, and 3 MVPS. Probably right place at the right time as he was with all those great Yankee teams of late 40s, 50s.
