Ray McDonald violates restraining order, arrested for second time in three days. The former Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers defensive end violated yet again another restraining order according to Santa Clara police. The restraining order was against McDonald for domestic violence and child endangerment for allegedly striking a lady while she was holding a baby. The Chicago Bears organization released Ray McDonald about 6 hours after his arrest.
While playing with the San Francisco 49ers organization McDonald got arrested for a domestic violence case, but no official charges were made. He went on to play 14 games for the 49ers in 2014. Later on in the year he was charged with sexual assault investigation and the 49ers release McDonald in December 2014.
The Chicago Bears organization faced scrutiny for signing Ray McDonald after all of these charges, but Chicago Bears General Manager Ryan Pace said "That they made their intentions to McDonald clear if he was going to play for the Bears organization". However, McDonald was not able to hold up his end of the bargain so he was released by the Bears.
One would wonder why a Pro athlete like Ray McDonald 30 years old would continue on his path of violence when he's a pro athlete making millions of dollars per year. One can only speculate that McDonald does not care and cannot control his temper. However, one would also wonder why the Bears organization would sign him in the first place knowing his history. The Bears organization wen't out of it's way to praise McDonald and even went as far as saying that the defendant's in these cases were not credible. It would seem that the league policy on violence is still in need of more work, because apparently the Bears only cared about getting a defensive end on a budget.
