R.I.P. Kaptain

I've been trying to think of a good way to put this but there just isn't one. We lost Kaptain this morning. He died at St. Francis hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma while trying to recover from heart surgery.

He had been moved out of the ICU a couple of days ago and then into a regular room last night. The prognosis was still very good at that time. Then, this morning, he cashed in.

I can say that I had the privilege of meeting and knowing Karl and he was just as great a guy as you would think he would be. I am really going to miss him.

His son tells me there will be no services. I have his home address if anyone wants to send condolences to his family. Just let me know in here and I'll see that you get it.

How Sad..... Followed the Kaptain for years...never met him but could tell he was a great guy... Loved to follow his postings.. He was the best and will truly be missed! I would always look for his posts first.... So long Kaptain and smooth sailing!!

I was saddened greatly to hear the news today. BC has lost one of its best members and I know he was adored by many on here as well. He did so much for the site and many people benefitted from his picks, his posts, his integrity and his honesty.

Karl never shied away from giving his opinion, whether you liked it or not. He was open and honest with his thoughts at times. A character trait you could most definitely respect out of a man or friend. I never got the chance to speak with Karl, just chatted through emails, but all my dealings with him on here were of respect for one another.

Karl was as intelligent as he was full of charisma. I'm 100% sure that him and Jimmy are together once again, sharing a few laughs and some great memories of days gone by.

You will be sorely missed around here podnah. The light here at BC just became a lot dimmer.

I will do my best, as I know UDOG and the other mods will as well, to keep the Kaptain's Kruise threads running for as long as this site is around. In memoriam.

May God rest his soul. A great man I never had the pleasure of meeting in person but had a lot of respect for. He was always very supportive and I'm happy to have shared some laughs with him over the years.

Joe (Spark) phoned me after hearing the news and asked that I let you all know how very sad this has made him today.

Karl and Joe met in Mississippi a few years back, along with JT and Jimmy. He said it was a wonderful time they all shared and that he had the utmost respect for Karl. They've always been good friends, even though sometimes they didn't see eye to eye. Joe said he's always felt a kinship towards Karl.

Joe and Karl enjoyed ribbing one another on here with " Hey YOF." It was one of many great memories the two had shared here at Bettorschat. Joe also wanted to send his condolences and respect to Karl's family, as well as all the BC group of guys who will no doubt be deeply saddened by this unfortunate loss.

I could tell by Joe's voice that this was very sad news to accept. I think we all feel the same as him and hope for a smooth sailing for the Kapt on his way to a better place.

We have all lost a great man. I never met Karl in person but had several chats by email. He always had a kind word when you needed it the most and he will be missed. Our prayers and thoughts go out to his family.

Very sad to hear this. I never had the chance to meet Kapt. He was a major part of the site and will be missed.
I take slight solice in that now kapt can be reunited with his family friends and our friends jimmy and chungster

On a personal note.....what touched me most about Kaptain might strike some of you as odd but
I really appreciated when it was my bday or another members bday kapt always took the time to leave a special
Post on here. Far beyond just ....happy birthday. Just showed how he cared for many. Its something I wont forget.

Dang, I hated to hear this. Kaptain was indeed one of the guys that made Bettorschat what it is. Never met him but I learned a lot about the kind of man he was by interactions with him here. I know he was hard-working, insightful, straightforward, creative. Sounds like he was a devoted family man, talked about his kids and grandkids. He also had a unique style and way of relating to people. This place won't be the same without him.
