  • Sources: Cabrera lands 10-year, $300M deal

    Tigers, Miguel Cabrera reach deal

    By Jerry Crasnick | ESPN.com

Two-time American League MVP Miguel Cabrera has agreed to terms with the Detroit Tigers on a new 10-year contract that will pay him just under $300 million, a baseball source told ESPN.com.

The new contract, which covers the two years remaining on Cabrera's current deal and eight additional years, is expected to become official later this week, the source said.

CBSSports.com earlier reported Detroit and Cabrera were closing in on an agreement that would make the superstar slugger a Tiger for life.

When are these asshole owners going to learn. Cabrera will be 31 next month. How many more really good years will he have left. Maybe 5 if he's lucky, unless he goes on the juice, which he may already be doing. Every player who got a mega contract, shit the bed shortly after signing it, Pujols, Fielder, Hamilton, Aroid, etc. Funny Kershaw sign that huge contract and now he is going to miss his next turn because of imflamation in his back. It's a freaking joke. I am sure Mike Trout will surpass that contract in the next couple years. No wonder my cable bill is sky high and a good ticket to a game costs over $100.

Yeah, 5 year 150, I could see that but not this.

Trout is one I actually wouldn't have a problem with simply because of how young he is.
