There's something to be said for a pro style QB. I've seen a million Manziel types try to play the NFL game and they can't. I'd take my chances that Bortles could develop rather than waste my time with Manziel. He's no Drew Brees. Bortles could be Ryan Leaf, there's risk for sure.

You are crazy BW. No way you have seen a million Manziels. That guy did things NONE OF US have ever seen done before at the QB position. Some of the plays he made in the pocket are now legendary. The games against Bama on the road, the huge comeback in this years bowl game and countless others. He isn't just a scrambling QB that we have seen a million times before. He is different and he is special. His play proved that as a Freshman and a sophomore against stiff competition, not scrubs like Bortles played. Manziel played every play like it was his last and he made defenses look lost at times. He was in a league of his own the last 2 years and sorry but no way you have seen a million of that guy and the things he did. Every game he played he made people say WOW 10 times.

Bortles is the guy we have seen a million times and he is C. Ponder IMO. He never dazzled or did anything for me at UCF and that was against crap teams. Manziel has been on the big stage 100 times already and he has proven the big lights do not scare him one bit. What has Bortles done to make anyone think he will be great? Nothing, except fit the mold size wise.

Manziel is the best scrambler I have ever seen in the pocket at any level of football. I've been trying to think of someone better over the years and I can't come up with one. It is like he is covered in grease back there and his height means nothing because the minute he makes one move, the whole defense panics and breaks down. That is when lanes open and coverage is lost because they are scared to death that he is running, but the minute you think he is, he throws a dart 40 yards down the field to an open receiver.

Every time I watched Johnny play there was only 1 QB that came to mind and it was Brett Favre. They look so much alike imo with their ability to move in the pocket and their gunslinger mentality. Johnny is 2 inches shorter but a better scrambler. I don't think the height matters. It only does if your plan is to stand in the pocket like a statue and he will not be doing that!

The NFL game is completely different from college, he'll never survive playing that. Bortles will be drafted before Manziel.

Yeah, heard the same about Cam & Kaepernick too. Guy completed nearly 70% of his passes in the rugged SEC ... Which was even better than the pro style Bortles against less competition. Some guys have it and some have shown zero signs of it. Manziel has it.

And who cares who is drafted 1st. All that means is some GM will make a mistake by going by "The Book" instead of using his actual eyes.

2 year starter in the best conference in CFB and in those 2 years the guy racked up

                Heisman Trophy (2012)
                Davey O'Brien Award (2012)
                Manning Award (2012)
                Archie Griffin Award (2012)
                Chic Harley Award (2012)
AP Player of the Year (2012)
Sporting News Player of the Year (2012)
                Consensus All-American (2012)
SEC Offensive Player of the Year (2012)
                2x First-team All-SEC (2012, 2013)
SEC Freshman of the Year (2012)
College Football Performance National Freshman of the Year (2012)
                Cotton Bowl Offensive MVP (2012)
                Cotton Bowl Champion (2012)
SEC Male Athlete of the Year (2013)
                Chick-fil-A Bowl Offensive MVP (2013)
                Chick-fil-A Bowl Champion (2013)

That doesn't happen by coincidence or mistake. He is a beast. He also accounted for 93 TD's in only 2 seasons vs SEC competition. That is 46.5 per season. Again, no fluke.

I have yet to hear a reason why Bortles is better than this guy and I think it is simply because there are none. Johnny will sell tickets and he will win games.

Did you notice Colin Kaep didn't run barely at all this year until the playoffs? He didn't wanna get RG3'ed or the team didn't want him to. Can Newton is huge. Manziel won't last a season if runs around like that. He got crushed a few times this year, in the NFL his season would be over with this hits.

Can you layout the stats for Tim Tebow while you're at it

I knew tebow would be your crutch at some point. I was waiting for that. I looked at his stats and Johnny was better.

Also, read the manziel thread just below that BC started. I addressed this already. They are not even close to the same player.

There is a reason why tebow wasn't projected as a 1st round pick and Johnny is top 5 or 10. They are different players and dumbass mcdaniels saved Tebow by jumping up and trading for the last pick in round 1 to take him. It was obvious he couldn't throw in college but mcdaniels must have missed that memo

Hey I'm ok if you all think I'm crazy too. I may be. A lot of people hate manziel. I'm not a huge fan but I do think the guy knows how to play the game and I would take him before bortles. I would take Bridgewater and probably a few others before bortles too!

Honestly I don't really like any of these QBs but I think Bortles has the best chance to be successful in the NFL. I would take Clowney number 1 no matter what. If Bortles goes to the Jags, he's just another Blain Gabbert. The situation plays a huge factor in how these guys do. Whoever goes to Cleveland is screwed also. Houston would be a good place for a QB, because they can run the ball.

I really think o'brien will work with schaub and the qb's they have and I think they draft a qb to develop between rounds 2 and 4. The thought of putting Clowney on one side and watt on the other is simply too good to pass up with so many qb's on the board in this draft. That would be nasty and a nightmare for any offensive line to handle. They would be stupid not to draft Clowney IMO.

Agree as Bortles is better. Read the following article on CBS. What Bortles says makes absolutely awareness as to why QB don't throw the ball early in combines.
