  • NFL: Teams that need to win and why

Been doing a lot of reading, and compiling, what I think is an accurate breakdown of what NFL teams, need to win, what the win does for em, and also the effect of a loss..................

    NFC........
    Teams in......SeaHawks, Panthers, 49ers......

2 will get a BYE and 1 will be sent to the wildcard........Seattle and Car hold the #1 seeds....If Seattle beats the Rams, Seattle is #1 with the HomeField advantage throughout the playoffs...If Seattle loses, and the 49ers beat the Cards, then Frisco takes the west and Seattle drops to the FIFTH seed..pretty drastic drop........Game very important to SeaHawks.......Frisco takes the top seed, If Hawks lose, and Car loses to the Falcons......If 49ers, and SeaHawks both lose, and Car wins, Car is the TOP Seed....

    TEAMS trying to get in..........
Eagles, Cowboys, Bears, Packers, Saints, Cards......

NFC East........Dallas/Philadelphia, play each other, winner wins division.....
    NFC North......Packers/Bears, ditto..
NO is in the mix for for NFC South and a bye....or the final wild card......If the Saints beat the Bucs, and the Panthers lose, NO wins the division, and Carolina drops to a wild card......
If Saints lose, and Carolina beats the 49ers, Az gets the last wild card.

these games mean something to these teams, therefore they have incentives to win........

will be doing the AFC later on this evening and post........

Thanks for the info but be careful about playing on teams that "need" to win. I think the pressure gets to these teams a lot of times. They are tight and most of the time, the teams they are playing, have nothing to lose and play loose.

A great example were the Pats and Bears.

Pats win out, they clinch the #1 seed....Dolphins win.
Bears win against the Eagles, they win division....Eagles crush even though game didn't mean anything to them.

point well taken.....I've always said cause they need to win, doesn't mean they're gonna win..........and a team with nothing to lose, goes for it on 4th and 2, gets it, then goes on to upset a favored team.......

merely tried to show others, that may say, I'm not going to bet on ?????, cause they have nothing to gain........lots of teams have a lot to gain, lots want to be spoilers, and lots don't give a damn........

The KC Chiefs are playing for nothing.....they're locked into the 5th seed. regardless..........

I think they just might rest, not risk Injury, to some key players..........they're playing SD Chargers, who can get in, IF, they win, and Ravens and Dolphins lose (or tie)....

      thanks for the input......

AFC version of who needs to win

        These teams are in Playoffs

        Broncos, Pats, Bengals, Colts, Chiefs

Chiefs are locked into 5th seed regardless of what they do with SD Chargers.....win or lose.........nothing to gain

Denver and NE hold the top seeds.

Denver can be no worse than #2 if they beat Raiders, they'll get home field advantage throiughout the playoffs........If Denv loses and Pats beat Bills,NBE gets the conference top seed........

Ig NE loses, Bengals beat Ravens, Cinn moves up to #2 and gets a bye......

If Pats & Bengals lose, & Colts beat the Jags, Indy take the second spot and BYE.....

Teams TRYING to GET In.......Miami, Ravens,Chargers, Steelers..

Mia, Balt, & SD are 8-7, & Pitt is 7-8.....one will take the final wildcard......

Miami will be #6 if they beat Jets, if the Chargers win, or Ravens lose.....Miami loses, they're out....

If Ravens beat Bengals & Dolphins or Chargers lose, Ravens are in......

Chargers make playoffs if they win & Ravens & Dolphins lose (or tie)...

If Chargers, Ravesn, & Dolphins all lose, & Pitt beats BROWNS, Pitt is #6

If everybody loses, RAVENS get the spot
