Pittsburgh signs former semi pro Hall of Famer to help with ailing running game (AP)

(AP) Pittsburgh--Pittsburgh Steelers signed free agent Chuck Lazar III to a one year contract Tuesday morning in hopes of bolstering a pathetic running attack. Steelers have just 75 yards through 2 games and felt the need to find a answer to their running game woes.

Chuck Lazar III is well known in the Pittsburgh area as the fastest man on earth, registering a blistering 3.9 second 40 yard dash. He also holds many records for the Pittsburgh Wolf Pack and lately has been named used car salesman of the year for 5 years running. When questioned outside the Steelers practice facility this morning, Ben Roethlisberger was quoted as saying, I've known Chuck for a long time, we're best friends, I've been trying to get Kevin Colbert to sign him for years.

Lazar will report to camp Wednesday morning and is expected to start for the Steelers this Sunday when they take on the Chicago Bears.

A spokesman for the league office, who asked not to be identified because he was not authorized to speak on behalf of the commissioner, has told ESPN news that Chuck Lazar III has gambling ties to NFL games. However an inside source from a city in Maine, have confirmed that Mr. Lazar never made those bets and just faked betting slips to try and get recognition as a legitimate member of a sports betting forum.
