  • Baltimore - Suggestions Needed

Has anyone ever been to Baltimore? Going in the middle of May for a weekend vacation with the wife. Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for good places to eat, see and drink?

Already have tickets to the Orioles/Rays game for the 18th at 4pm. Just looking for suggestions for things to do while there. Going to check out tripadvisor as well but figured you guys might have some ideas seeing as how we have some similar interests.

    Thanks!

Much of the city is a pit but their Inner Harbor area is just fantastic. Stay anywhere near the Inner Harbor you'll do great.

    one great restaurant:

Chazz. It's owned by Chaz Palmintieri, the actor who starred in and wrote The Bronx tale. Great Italian restaurant with higher end dishes but also nice pizzas from a wood fired over. Chazz himself is often there.

Phillips, for seafood, is always great.

My wife and I have been to Camden Yards several times to see Sox games-great state of the art ballpark.
I agree with Griswold's assessment of the city.
We had a great meal at Cheesecake Factory, which is located not far from the park.
You may have a wait though to get a table especially after the game.
ps there is great food and quite a variety of it within the ballpark itself.

Stay at the Inner Harbor. If you didn't have tickets to see the Orioles on the 18th I would have suggested you take in the Preakness that day. Quite a few good restaurants around the Inner Harbor. Prime Rib is a short cab ride from the Inner Harbor. Best steak house in Baltimore. Little Italy is another short cab ride from the harbor. Lot of good Italiam restaurants . My favorite is Chiparelli's or Sabatino's. Maryland Live Casino isn't too far away if you have a rental car. Too far to go by cab.

Thanks everyone! We are staying at the Hilton Garden Inn which I believe is in the Inner Harbor or fairly close to it. Just made a reservation at Chazz. Met him many times before at a family friend's restaurant in the Bronx. Very nice guy.
Was thinking of just hitting up the Power Plant Live on Saturday night for dinner after the game and experience the bars and nightlife there. Odd that they all close at 2am though.
