  • Mt. Rushmore of Sports (Chicago)

I am going to post a different thread each week with a different City involved.

This Week it is Chicago. I will start with mine.

Of course this is all opinion based but I think MJ is a lock. After that ... debatable!

Locals like Spark will have the best input for the feel in the City but these would be mine

    Michael Jordan
    Dick Butkus
    Mike Singletary
    Walter Payton

My problem is I didn't include any Hockey or Baseball players. Should I have? Who did I miss?

What is your 4 for Chicago Sports?

Shoeless Joe Jackson it was between him and Ernie Banks for me.

Almost went with George Mikan for being so good that he changed the game of Basketball

I thought about Hull. Just wasn't sure how big an icon he was there.

So Joe, Hull is that big in Chicago huh? I thought maybe football was bigger and I put Singletary over Hull.

Wayne, if you followed sports at all he was HUGE here in Chicago. Hockey was so much different back when Hull was playing. Just like in football. Now it is all about protecting the players. Could you imagine watching a hockey game and the goalie was not wearing a mask? I remember those days. Players NEVER wore helmets. Hull was the complete package.

Oh Yeah, I knew Hull was one of the greatest. Knowing how crazy people are for Football, I just wasn't sure if Hull was still that big of an icon there with the younger generation taking over!
