  • Ravens/Pats Line

Will someone please explain to me why this line is 9'. Before the line came out I thought it would be Pats -6 or 7. 9' makes no sense to me. And please don't tell me it's because of Brady and their offense. The same was said about Denver and Peyton Manning and Denver even had the 2nd ranked defense. For some reason the Ravens seeem to match up well against the Pats over the last 5-6 years. Here are their last 6 games:

    Ravens win 31-30
Pats win 23-20 when Lee Evans drops the winning TD pass and Cundiff chokes
    23-20 Pats win in OT
    27-21 Pats win
27-24 this was played in the Pats undefeated season. They were like 12-0 when they played Baltimore and Baltimore was 4-8 and it was still a close game.
33-13 Ravens win in the playoffs.

    Seems really strange

They were -9 1/2 against Houston and IMO, Houston and Baltimore are even teams so I'm not surprised by the line...I thought it would be 10.

The public loves New England, especially at home, in the playoffs, and in the cold weather. They just wooped the shit out of Houston (though Texans are a bit overrated) and it shouldn't have even been as close as it was. Pats 10-1 in their last 11 games. Ravens won but their defense/special teams definitely didn't convince anybody that they can stop New England. New England can't be stopped by anybody, period...The Ravens weren't too sharp on the road this year either. The only thing I see is exactly what you said about them playing them well the past 5 years or so but that's about it.

And the Ravens have Jacoby Jones returning kicks...NE looked awful on Sunday in kick coverage.

Last year the line was -7.5

How different are these teams than last year?

I think the line is what it is because you have a Baltimore team that hasn't had a week off in months and they are coming off a long road trip that they played over 5 qtrs of football in thin air, played 174 plays on defense in 2 weeks and now they are back on the road again. That is the only thing I can think of when I see this line.
