Here is a great story about him.He signed with Ga Tech out of high school.He wanted a scholarship from Notre Dame but they had a great recruiting class that year and they did not offer him a ride.He signed with Ga Tech and somehow 2 running backs got hurt for the Irish and they then offered him a ride.Hornung went to Bobby Dodd telling him that Notre Dame was his dream.He said he was willing to transfer and sit out a year.Bobby Dodd said he has never wanted to keep someone from thier dream.Bobby Dodd went to the NCAA and released Hornung so he did not have to sit out a year.For that he has always been greatful to Ga Tech Athletics and at one time gave the College a nice donation.
