Is anyone out there picking someone other than the Heat or Lakers to win it all???

I don't see anyone being able to beat the Heat. I still think the Thunder is the team to beat in the West. San Antonio and Denver will be the biggest hurdles for the Thunder to reclaim the West imo.

The Lakers bench looks weak but i don't know how you can overlook a frontcourt of Gasol & Howard and a backcourt of Nash & Bryant, with a defensive specialist (World Peace) in the middle. If healthy, that is one HELL of a team and they will be a very tough out in the West!

I think the Heat are still the top team though. I don't see it with Denver. You need superstars/HOF's to "Usually" win Titles and Denver has a bunch of very good players but no great ones to lead them IMO.

        LAL
        OKC
        SA

        MIAMI
        BOSTON
        CHICAGO (Rose?)

I'm not sure what to make of the Nets & Knicks yet!

Simple, they still don't have anyone to guard Westbrook and their defensive specialist who couldn't guard KD last year is now a year older.

Kobe has never been the guy to play without the ball in his hands. You think he's going to be ok with Nash running the pick and roll all the sudden. I just don't see it.

I actually like Bynum better than I do Howard in the frontcourt with Gasol. At least Bynum can shoot ft's and you can't pull a Hack-a-Howard with Bynum there still.

Everyone thinks the moves the Lakers made automatically make them the favorite in the west, but with their sorry ass bench, I actually look for them to take a step back.

          Just my opinion

I think at Kobe's age kb, Yeah he can play that way. Physically he isn't what he was and i think he knows that.

I think the Harden loss was huge. I really do and that's why i dropped them to #2

I agree with ya'll about the Heat. The Bulls with D Rose are the only team that CAN take down the Heat in the East but by no means do I think they will. The Lakers starting squad is just a little funky to me. Nash makes every team better on offense but it's going to be a bit different with a SG that wants the ball all the time, Howard that is one-dimensional, and "Ron Artest" that can screw up the flow of any offense...KB I'm interested to see how the Nugs play as well. I think they've got a real solid team and Faried is going to be a beast. My Spurs are a big iffy to me for some reason (maybe it's the new flopping rule that has been implemented). The West seems to be up for grabs with a few teams. Hands down I have the Heat winning it all though.

I think Boston can be right there in the end. Motivation for the Heat simply can't be as high as it was with Lebron trying to win his 1st and he has not had much of a rest going in to this season. Neither has Wade.

Boston is missing Allen but they have 4-5 other solid pieces that they added. They also played the Heat right down to the end in a game 7 to get to the Finals. Something OKC couldn't even do. The NBA is ALL about matchups and i think Boston matches up well with the Heat in a Series. If they get Bradley back and he plays in this postseason, it is yet another piece they will have. Can Pierce & KG stay healthy? If they do, I see them right there in the end. They were 1st in the NBA last year in FG% defense and 2nd in points allowed. That's why they can contend again.

I like Denver. I really do but they are in no way a threat to "Win it all" IMO. In the last 57 years, only one team won the Title without a top flight superstar or a guaranteed HOF'er at the time of the Finals. You could say that one of these guys may turn in to a top of the league superstar but the teams that won all had one already. The only team that really didn't was the 2003-04 Pistons. Maybe this is the 2nd team but i simply see too many big hurdles in the West! JMO

i hope your right about the celtics contending with the heat cause i actually hate the heat. You probably know the celtics better than i do. And i dont know exactly what denver will do. I just like their team this year. They have a pretty decent squad and i think they will make some noise. Who knows...

When you have as a 2nd unit like Avery Bradley, Jason Terry, Jeff Green, Leandro Barbosa and Jared Sullinger, that's a pretty good 10 man rotation. You add in guys they really like at backup C to simply play defense and eat minutes like Darko, Wilcox, Collins and Fab Melo, that is a lot of size. This team goes 10-12 deep and that will come in handy if an injury hits them.

......and maybe you helped me realize why i loved that 03-04 Pistons squad so much. That is my fave team of all time lol. And yeah i get the celtics have a good bench but the heat bench isnt a joke either. Its just tough to have anyone that can guard lebron and then have to worry about wade and bosh as well. On the other side of the ball i think the heat can match up with every player on the celtics. Like i said though, please prove me wrong. Anyone but miami is fine with me.

The Heat have nobody to match Rondo. It may be the only one but PG and C are and still will be the weak points. Sorry, I just can't agree with the PG matchup.

Love the way rondo plays..but when their arent any huge mismatches to take advantage of, it makes it harder on him...especially when miami plays flawless collective defense

Death to ray allen though. I cant believe he left the ceptics to join not only their hated rival, but the nba's most hated team.
