Imo a team which won 88 games and had to struggle to win their division should NEVER be almost a 2-1 favorite against a team with a better record and which has the odd home game.
And if I had 22-32-34-36-56 PB-33 I would of won the Powerball jackpot last night

There is quite a difference between pointing out something before a series starts, in this case an unjustifed betting line, and winning a lottery which is sheer luck and/or deemed by a Higher Power.

Savage, correct me if i am wrong here but did you point out this line BEFORE the series started ?

I am saying that its easy to say the line was out of whack now that Detroit is down 3-0.

Just like winning the lottery, you do need some luck in betting too. Yes? No ?

Me-With SF getting the odd home game and all things considered, the right line on this series is about a pick or perhaps Detroit -115 tops.

Savage, of course linemakers make mistakes, thats the name of the game dude. I agree that more people should have taken a closer look at the giants cause they really are a perfect postseason team. No holes in the pitching game whatsoever (not that the tigers pitching is weak), they play small ball well, and their manager is really good and won with basically the same team he had in 2010. But take into consideration the fact that the public really liked th..e tigers in this series and everyone was thinking verlander was invincible (which he almost is). They also torched the yanks in the alcs. Also, im one of those that think too long of a layoff can hurt a team but it looks pretty good for you when you have the best pitcher in baseball pitching your first game of a 7 game set. I think when you throw all those factors in it makes it look like the tigers had a very good shot and especially so to the public. Remember the oddsmakers dont just place the odds where they think they should be. They put it where it will be balanced betting.

You do make some valid points.
However, I know of one person who believes that it is rare when Vegas makes a mistake and views all lines which loook too juicy as linemaker traps rather than linemaker errors.
And yes we all know that as a unit, the public is stupid and the overwhelming majority of folks lose.
In this case I can understand why the knucklehead public would just assume that San Francisco was just lucky to come back against Cincy and St. Louis and would have nothing left to face the likes of Verlander, Cabrera and Fielder especially since the Tigers had a week off;obviously that is one of the reasons Vegas set the line where it did.
Such provincial/one sided thinking from the public is one of the reasons that neither Vegas, the Offshores nor the locals are exactly going out of business.

LOL yeah they have some smart people making those odds. Case in point; I thought the Giants should have been favored by at least 3.5 against the Cowboys and really, I thought the Cowboys didn't stand a chance. Of course the Giants almost lost that game and showed me why Vegas doesn't fuck around haha.

Yeah that Dallas/Giant game was something and I was counting my money when it was 23-0.
Needless to say, all of us folks who had the Giants were quite fortunate considering how it ended.
At one time I thought reverse line movement was a lot of hokie, but now for me it is as good as any indication out there as to who is going to cover.

There must be LOTS of bad calls from both American men and women considering that 50% or so of the marriages end up in divorce.
You might say that by marrying a Colombian lady, I was using a "prevent defense" from becoming one of the statistics cited above except in my case and unlike football for the most part, it actualy worked. lol
