  • Bucs v Saints final play

Refs made the right call obviously but can someone please tell me why a defender is allowed to push a receiver out of bounds and cause him to be taken out of the play altogether? Something tells me that WR's aren't allowed to do the same to defenders! Watching that Tampa defense was hard enough..seeing that final play being taken away hurt even more.

I did not see it but if its within the first 5 yards then the defender can chuck the wide receiver. After that there is always a little bit of pushing by both cb and wr until the ball is in the air.Once the ball is in the air no one can block nor put hands on another player..

I ref high school ball and last week we called an offensive pass interference because the QB threw a 40 yd pass to the right side. The wr on the left side was blocking the corner back while the ball was in the air to the other side of the field. In high school rules there is no such thing as an uncatchable pass so that is considered offensive pass interference.

Final play of the game, Freeman scrambled out of the pocket, threw a TD pass but it was negated because the Tampa WR was pushed out of the endzone and came back in to catch it. It was 10 yards away from the line of scrimmage. One of the guys that does the insight on controversial plays, challenges, etc. said that this was indeed the right call though. I think he said the WR can be pushed since Freeman was out of the pocket..apparently it was the right call but a horrible rule if that is the case

I have been a ref for about 15 years.Right now i am calling youth ball mostly.I work 2-10 monday thru friday so my work keeps me away from high school ball alot.2 weeks ago i had Sandy Creek High School and it was homecoming. That is where Calvin Johnson went to School and he showed up for the first half but left efore the game was over.He was in the Home teams Locker room when i went in for the coaches Meeting.

I make $75 for a high school game that last about 3 hrs or i can work a youth game that last about 1hr and a half for $35.I can do 6 or 7 games a Saturday all in one location or drive 30-40 miles and do 1 high school game Friday or Saturday so i make more $$$$ doing youth ball.

bhs i also was 1 guy away from holding the chains at the SEC championship game last year between lsu and Alabama. The booking secretary had called me and told me that he needed 3 guys and him the President and Vice President of our association were doing it.The president of our association was not sure if he could get off work so he asked me if i would do it if He could not make it.Funny thing was i said sure and did not even ask how much it was paying,

anyway didnt work out but would have been great.
