Updated: Rambo’s suspension reportedly drug-related; will appeal
Posted by Ben Kercheval on March 28, 2012, 10:02 PM EDT
APAnd Georgia’s spring from hell — don’t call it a discipline issue — rolls on.

Already dealing with a pair of off-the-field issues with cornerbacks Branden Smith and Sanders Commings, Georgia coach Mark Richt has reportedly been given no other option but to suspend two other defenders.

DawgPost.com, UGA’s Scout.com affiliate, writes that linebacker Alec Ogletree and starting safety Bacarri Rambo (pictured) will miss at least two, but as many as four, games at the start of the 2012 season for violation of team rules. The report does not offer any confirmation of the suspensions from the school.

If true, it would be the second time in as many years that Rambo, an All-American who decided to return to Athens for another year, found himself on the sidelines at the beginning of the season. Rambo was suspended for last year’s season-opening game against Boise State for, what else, violating team rules.

Losing the two for any amount of time would be a significant blow to the Georgia secondary, which is already feeling the stress of depth issues in its secondary. Ogletree and Rambo combined for over 100 tackles and 11 takeaways last season.

UPDATED 3/29 @ 10:11 a.m. ET: The Macon Ledger-Enquirer reports that Rambo has been suspended four games this year for a second violation of the team’s drug policy. Ogletree’s suspension is reportedly two games and a result, as stated above, of violating team policy.

Georgia still has not offered any comment on the reports, although Rambo’s high school coach confirmed the suspension status of his former player.

Unreal....his story is hilarious. It would be really funny if it were not so sad. Georgia will be fine in the opener against Buffalo. However, game 2 Georgia goes up to Missouri for game 2 and their offense is strong. Georgia is extremely lucky that they don't have Boise & S. Carolina as game 1 and 2 like this past year. There are others who are/will be suspended for different instances, a couple from this drug test that Rambo failed. Throw those in with another who was charged with Battery and you get an ugly offseason for Richt to work through.

Iz'a was going to tell coach but I got scared and took my chances that they wouldn't test me. Den dey did da test on me when I gots back and dats why I failed".

I swear I can't make this shit up guys. Funniest excuse I have ever heard for a failed drug test

Like I said, it would be very funny if it were not so pathetic. I would like to think I could make up a better story than that.....maybe "I was stuck in a car with some guys who decided to Hot-box windows rolled up. The second hand smoke was so thick and I ingested so much but had no way out".
Something/Anything would be better than the story he gives. He has even convinced his high school coach that what he said was the truth. Unreal

I agree. The high school coach standing up for him is as pathetic as the lie espn loves when UGA or UT have mistakes. They always put our negative headlines at the top of the page!!!

Thanks. It is a very nice neighborhood. You know I need some golf lessons. I plan on joining in the next month. I dont think we are going to move until sometime in May so maybe we get together and take a trip to the range. Even if its the little par 9 on Flippen Rd

I would take the integrity of UGA over Auburn any day of the week. Cam Newton and Robert Baker, that's all I got.

Integrity....I guess that means getting 10-12 players suspended every year. Just another classy comment...figures.

BTW, how many crystal footballs have you guys held up lately?

                    Go eat some brownies

Really? Maybe I dont get how African Americans do their beach trips. With us white folks if someone is making the good brownies then its pretty well known.

Whatever 4 games seems like a lot Im not hating on the punishment, I just do not believe RAMBO.

Once again...maybe you ate too many brownies. If the NCAA could not find anything and I mean anything then what the hell do you want Auburn to do? Trying to converse with you is just like trying to converse with any other UGA fan....Imfuckingpossible. You guys are never in the wrong and its never your fault. Have a great day dumbass!
