  • Which MLB record intrigues/fascinates you the most?

For me it's Joe Dimaggio's hit streak. Everytime I see someone with a 20+ hit streak, Uggla now for instance, I make it a point to follow it almost every night to see if it continues.

    What is yours?

This one has been asked before. I just don't think the hit streak is it. Many people have made a run at it and they got within 20-30 games of it.

Mine is Cy Young with i think 511 Wins. How many pitchers have come within 20-30 Wins of Cy Young? Nobody. The closest guy has 417 (96 behind), and that was done by a guy born in 1887 (Walter Johnson).

You would need to win 20 games every year for 25 years in a row and it still wouldn't be enough. Think about that for a minute!

The active leader right now is Tim Wakefield with 199 Wins (312 Wins behind). The guy who is 2nd on that list is Roy Halladay with 182. He could pitch 10 more years and get 20 wins every season and he would still be 129 Wins short.

The record is far and above the most untouchable in sports!

I agree, but that is exactly why it doesn't intrigue me much. We all know that will never be matched with the way rotations are set up these days. The hit streak seems unbeatable, and no one has gotten too close to it, but there still seems that possiblity to me that someone can do it one day.

It does me a ton. Just thinking about how a guy can possibly win 511 games is intriguing to me.

Kyle, He had 749 Complete games. 749!!!

No pitcher in MLB History will ever start 749 games in their career and this guy had 749 Complete games!

Cy Young is the most intriguing athlete in MLB history next to Babe Ruth IMO. The numbers are mind boggling!

10 in one season is considered GREAT. You would need to do that for 75 years in a row to top this dude!

Different strokes for different folks I guess

I agree totally. That's why it doesn't intrigue me cause I know that there will never be another guy who even has a shot. Those guys used to pitch all the damn time. Guys today are lucky to get 30-35 starts a year. No question that this will never be broken. The hit record... I think can still happen

If it was a single season record, it would be the HR record for me. The Triple Crown and a guy batting .400 is also very intriguing to me. The hit streak is cool but a .250 hitter who goes 1-4 every night can break it really. Just doesn't mean that much to me i guess!

What about rickey hendersons 130 stolen bases in 1982

that one is going to be tough to break also

the mlb leader this year is michael bourn and after 106 games he only has 39 and he is leading all of baseball.
