But if Boston sweeps the Yanks (which I could see with them getting Hughes and Nova) then all will be right in Beantown

Unless pitching improves dramatically, Sox are going to be on the short end of a lot of slugfests this season andforget even making the playoffs.
Right now Lester is the only starting pitcher I have confidence in
The fact that the masses picked them to get to the WS is troubling in itself because they are usually wrong.
That 10 game losing streak near end of spring training may mean more than you think.
Even though it is early, I have a strong hunch that Baltimore will be
in the hunt this year and won't fold-great manager!

You know in all honesty, even though it is only the 9th game of the season, if Beckett gets knocked around and puts the Sox in a whole early, it will be just one more sign that this team is nowhere near as good as it is cracked up to be and the swoon near the end of spring training and the 1-7 start are not to be taken lightly.
This is the type of game that years ago that Pedro Martinez would do his thing and get the Sox back on track.
Personally I think he won't get it done-nothing is going right at the moment-obviously I sure hope I am wrong.

Don't be so sure-as a Sox diehard since the 50's, I see reasons for concern even at this stage.

If I may throw in my 2 cents worth about the Bosox. Way to early to panic every team goes through a period of not being able to hit their way out of a wet paper bag with a hole already in it or hit a broad side of a barn from 10 paces. Loosing 8 out of 10 games at a stretch its called a slump the problem is the Bosox are having theirs to start the season causing their backers to shit themselves thinking that they are the second comming of last years Pittsburgh Pirates team. They will be fine. Trust me Im not even a fan of them

It is the pitching and lackof which concerns me-I am not worried about the offense coming around.

Any team can get a few bad breaks and get off to a rough start,
This is not the case with the Sox, whose pitching was blitzed all pre season and now into regular season-IMO big reason for concern.
