It does really not mean anything at this point. Until the deadline comes and he doesn't apply for the draft, this is just speculation.

Think about how many times each year kids say they're going into the draft and back out or vice versa. Granted, because he's the assumed number 1 overall, more interesting, but time will tell.

The only thing that makes sense to me is if his camp really believes we're in for a long lock out, and he figures he'd rather play and finish up his degree, as opposed to sitting around with a lockout.

Either way, with the new NFL labor contract, when it gets done, I think we all know the days of the $50 million plus rookie contracts are gone. That's about the only thing that the Owners and NFL Players are in agreement on at this point.

The only problem with this thinking is he's only a redshirt Soph now, he could stay two more years at Stanford if he wants!!

I agree with Raven, I think if u get info from the NFL that states you're gonna be a top 20 lock then you have to take the money. To me it's irresponsible not to do it. I'm a teacher and a dad and if one of my students or my kids was going to be the number one pick I would advise him to turn pro.
