The Red Sox have agreed to a two-year, $12MM deal with Bobby Jenks, according to ESPN.com's Buster Olney (on Twitter). Jon Heyman of SI.com first reported (on Twitter) that the sides were closing in on a deal.

The Yankees payroll will still be $30 million higher than the Sox in 2011. I know it's hard to believe but ........

They are not going much higher or spending much more than in past years. Crawford and Gonzo just replace lowell, martinez and beltre. Gonzo only makes like 6 million in 2011 and in 2012 when his price tag goes up, they will offset it by being done with Drew's contract (14 million per year), Cameron's contract (8 million per), Ortiz (11.5 mill per).

I know it looks and sounds crazy but as far as team payroll goes, they are just replacing contracts that leave with these and not really upping the team salary as a whole.

P.S. And guys like Drew will be replaced by the very cheap Kalish and Scutaro by the very cheap Iglesis <--- Spelling? ....... from the farm system.

I LOVE!!!!! ...... this signing. Watched him at UNC and he was a stud. He was up & down with the Marlins but he is a very nice, young, lefty that they desperately needed. He can start or be in the pen where they had no lefty. Great signing!!!

I think the Sox only had 3 signed guys in the bullpen so they needed to find and sign about 3-4 more guys to fill it out. Looks like they got 3 there!
