More than $100M over 5 years w/an easily reachable vesting option for the 6th year.

The wait is over. Cliff Lee has agreed to sign with the Phillies, according to MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan. The deal is worth about $100MM over five years, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post (on Twitter). That's far less that the $150MM, seven-year deal the Yankees offered (Jon Heyman of SI.com reporting on Twitter).

Now the Yanks resign Pettitte and and trade for Greinke or Gallardo.

Phillies will win 110 games now but I didnt want to sign Lee for that long he will be a finess type pitcher in 3 yrs throwin high 80's and be a Pettitte type or worse in 4 years.

I would like either one of the ones I mention and hope for the best.

          Sabathia
          Greinke/Gallardo
          Pettitte
          Hughes
          Burnett

This looks good enough to win the East to me.

As a yankee fan.. I'm very happy! Yankees need to stop with this long contract shit! Lee will be 35 in 3 years... His run as a good pitcher will be over by then...

I don't think the Yanks feel Grienke can handle pitching in NY.

Greinke can't pitch in New York, he would be another Pavano/Vazquez etc etc. Brewers aren't trading Gallardo, they need more pitching. Burnett is totally cooked. Their offense is old, and their starting pitching is pretty average. If they had Lee, he might be able to neutralize all the star lefthanded bats the RedSox have. They can't win the East with this team IMO.

They're already trying to lock in Russell Martin, so they obvisously don't think Montero to catch, and they traded him for Lee before Seattle back out. If they want a big time pitching Montero will be included. He should be playing firstbase anyways.

Yankees have 2 catchers better than Montero so they will trade him.He can hit but his defense is just so-so.I can not watch them for the next 5-10 years with someone worse at catching than Posada.

You pitch half the games away and I think Greinke can do it and I hope we get a chance to see.

I think the Brewers will trade Gallardo for a combination of Montero ,Nova and Gardner. Than they trade Lorenzo Cain for another starter.

Greinke has the history with anxiety and what not, just don't think he can do it. I think if they package those 3 together, they can get a starter, but I'd be surprised if the Brewers trade Gallardo. I think they'll trade Fielder and let Gamel play first. I don't see a good starter on the market for the Yankees. They'll probably sign Brandon Webb.
