Im actually surprised Texas was able take on any more contract money, considering there ownership situation, unless they are giving back some players that make some descent money

ARLINGTON -- The Rangers have acquired pitcher Cliff Lee from the Mariners on Friday for first baseman Justin Smoak, pitcher Blake Beavan, Double A Frisco reliever Josh Lueke and second baseman/outfielder Matt Lawson.

The Rangers have scheduled a 5 p.m. CT news conference at the Ballpark in Arlington.

Lee could start for the Rangers as early as Saturday against the Orioles. He was scheduled to pitch on Friday against the Yankees at Safeco Field.

I won't take Texas too seriously until/if they prove they can defeat AL East teams with some regularity-it has been poor in the past and they are so far 6-12 this year.

This is a great move for Texas and they have to be a co-favorite to win the AL.
