Yeah I remember many years ago, I had a buddy who was well connected to the Mafiosa, and he introduced me to one of these thugs(they used to be called enforcers-don't know what they call them now), and to pit it mildly, he looked mean and nasty and ready to swing into action if called upon if some poor guy bet over his head, lost big and didn't have any intention of paying!
The song Big Bad Leroy Brown comes to mind. lol

And of course, if the guy who went overboard didn't have enough money to pay his man, the enforcer or someone else tied in with the crew would "generously help him" get a loan for a "mere" interest rate usually starting at 100%.

A lot of people get on locals---people lose--I have seen it first hand---FOR years---many years--yeah people will win but in the long run-people do lose especially if you have 40-to 100 guys which most locals do. I have been a book for many years--quit for awhile when I moved to Columbus but got back in it since I moved back to the Burgh. I have been bilked out of a ton of cash---trust me--So if a local is scum--so are a bunch of bettors--I never have welched on a bet-but have been fkd on..I watch who I take now and do not take bettors risking large amounts..--I have taken huge losses when I thought I was getting paid by someone else..If these locals start with 10000 bucks in there bank to book---yeah they could get taken depending on what action you take... the art of booking goes along with the art of wagering. If you are smart and a book---YOU ARE NOT A SCUMBAG--smart business in my opinion...why do people hate bookies--especially the ones who pay out--your money vs. theirs--If their wasn't bookies--locals--people would of never started wagering in the first place..find a good local or just deposit your money in a offshore account and hope you get paid--it's all a gamble anyway---RIGHT?

Sorry just don't understand why people hate locals---when will I see a thread saying people HATE offshore accounts---PLEASE

Offshore accounts don't give us that shit eatin grin when we hand them money like locals do

Seriously Bryce I know what your saying.I guess people hate locals cause it's easy to get out of control cause it's really on the BOOK.Offshore you put in and when that limits up your done. Most bookies don't stop you when your down and gamblers take there own money mismanagement mistakes out on the locals and give them shit on sites like this.

Good point Vols...I have a core of guys and one is a member on this site. I am SMALL time--no one gets out of control and I have actually given out my honest opinion on games to these guys when they ask me about a game. I tell them to bet straight bets--FK the parlays---all the things I myself believe in. I always tell my buddy that I don't have to cheat to win. ANyway I guess some have had some bad experiences with books etc...I have a push-off guy when I have something to big..Same guy for 20 some years and he is a great guy..I don't know I guess it's from what neck of the woods you come from and who you have dealt with!

                  Thanks Vols

IMO to be a professional gambler requires 3 things.

                    1. A healthy bankroll. A bankroll large enough to truly make a living and sustain the ups and downs of gambling.

                    2. Money Management and discipline. Most money management experts suggest betting between 2 and 5% of bankroll on each game with 2% the majority of your bets and a rare 5% bet.

                    3. Time management. One has to treat it as a full time job. Put in the required time to succeed. My biggest problem is I get bored with sports betting. It's not something I can do 24/7/365. Plus there's too many real life distractions. There's times where I won't cap or bet for months.

Personally, I have a few other rules. I place all my bets at the same time. Once I make my bets I will not bet anymore games. Like most rules on a rare occasion I break this rule. I'm serious when I break this rule I probably lose 75% of the time.

With baseball I bet the same amount on every game. My risk is the same whether I bet a favorite or dog.
