Question For Any Fishermen Out There

Ok guys im getting in this catfish tournament at the end of the month on the Illinois river. Ive never really fished for catfish before. This is not a big time tourney or nothing its being put on by a local bar i frequent and will prob have between 30-40 boats in it. Im just wondering if you guys have any advice, tips for fishing for catfish, like certain baits youve been sucessful with, spots to look for or anything you else you think would help. I dont plan on winning this just going out to have a good time, would like have a descent showing, dont want to get shut out. LOL

Find the nastiest smelling shit you can find

Hot dogs work well for me and i've also used chicken liver like vols and have had success with both.
