  • Nfl makes great call on Playoff overtime rule

NFL owners vote 28-4 in overtime rule change. If winner of the coin toss scores a td then game over.If coin toss winner kicks a fg then coin toss loser gets a chance to get the ball back to tie or win.

I don't like it. I think each team should get 1 possesion minimum, whether or not they give up 3 or 7. So if they pull some shit out of their ass and run the kickoff back for 7, it's over? Stupid.

If Team A wins toss, and kicks FG and Team B scores a FG on their possession, is it a tie? Or now what happens?

I ain't disagreeing with what your saying Wayne but at least it's a start. I would love to see both teams get a posession but IMO this is a good start. If a defense lets you run all over them in OT and scores then I'm fine with them losing. But like you said if someone runs a kickoff back that ould suck.I guess percentages say that won't happen much

I definitely agree with this statement...what if 2 offensive powers are playing and the game is tied at 45 cuz neither team can stop the other...basically means who ever wins the coin toss is just going to go down field score td and win game without the other offense ever touching the ball...both teams need at least one offensive possession...

Just playoffs. Mavs they keep playing until a td is scored, or fg and a turnover

Or if they each score 3, they keep playing until the next team scores and it is over.

Maybe some team needing to get into the playoffs in the last week loses cause of coin toss and then the owners might make it regular season also.I think the NCAA version is as good as it gets.NFL could learn something from it IMO

And like you said that still ain't good enough but it's better than nothing. NCAA is ahead of the NFL in OT rules no doubt IMO

I think the worry is that some games might drag on forever, which in the playoffs is great for tv, but during the regular season it's different. I don't like it. I think they should just do it like college, why don't they?

is team A receives the kickoff, then punts to team B, then team B goes down and kicks a field goal, is it over?

I would be fine with that but start at the 40, not the 25 like in college. The 25 is bad because you are in FG range in the NFL without even getting a yard. At least make them have to get a 1st down or something from the 40.
