  • Goodell confirms Stallworth's reinstatement coming

Posted by Evan Silva on February 5, 2010 12:50 PM ET
Mike Florio is live blogging Friday's press conference with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

One nugget that emerged from the meeting was Goodell's plan to reinstate Browns wide receiver Donte' Stallworth from suspension immediately after Super Bowl Sunday. Though already expected, Goodell's confirmation so close to the due date means there will be no hiccups in the way as Stallworth attempts to resume his playing career. At least from the league's standpoint.

Goodell has apparently been pleased with Stallworth's behavior and showing of remorse since he killed a pedestrian in the roadway while driving drunk last March.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer has reported that Stallworth will be released by the Browns' new front office once he becomes eligible to play again.

At that point, Stallworth will be free to sign with the highest bidder. Stallworth, 29, caught 17 passes for 170 yards and one touchdown in 11 games for the Browns in 2008.
