Gambling moment of the decade

With the decade coming to a conclusion and all of this talk about best player, team, game, etc of the decade, it got me thinking what some of the best gambling moments of the decade were.

I will start with this one

Duhon's meaningless half court shot vs uconn to cover in the nat'l champ game

USC vs Stanford. 11/15/2008. The line was USC -24, and the two teams were TIED at the half.

USC exploded in the 2H. Going on a 28-0 run and were now covering. It was now 45-17 USC, and Stanford had the ball with a minute or two left. Stanford drove down field to the USC 18 yard line. It looked like the back door cover was in order.

But, from the 18 yard line, Harbaugh trotted out his kicker to put one through with 3 seconds left.. Why? I don't know, I don't think anyone does. But the line was 24, and would have made the final 45-20. And USC still would have covered.

Pete Carroll called a T.O to ice the kicker, seriously, he did. Harbaugh took it as a slap in the face, went for it on 4th. TD Stanford. USC doesn't cover.

For me it has to be the Vols basketball team in Pearl's 1st year... Used to losing and dropping $$$ on the Vols, I still played them in every game and they were hot ATS.

Also in 2003 the ETSU Bucs when i was in College went off ATS and covered nearly every game including covering every game in the conference tournament on there way to a COVER as a 8 point dogs vs. Cincinatti in the NCAA tourney(should have won outright IMO amazing game)

Just love when your favorite teams are $$$$$ for the whole year.

As for TENN i played em on the MONEYLINE against TExas and at FLA that year, they were just magical.

Wow, as soon as I saw the thread topic that is exactly what came to mind! Of course that was back when I gambled alot more per game and I had them UConn straight for 500 and parlayed with G Tech before that for 500. I remember where I was, who I was with and everything. ARGH!!!

Tough to forget Duhon's shot to give me a loss in that game..

Luckiest beat of the decade (and probably as long as I live) was hands down last month when I won my CFL future on the Montreal Alouettes. Losing by almost 17 all game they rallied to kick a game winning FG with no time on the clock to win by 1. They missed the game winning kick wide right but the Riders were flagged for too many men. They had already started charging onto the field thinking they won the Championship and I thought I lost my bet. Only to see the Alouettes given a second opportunity to kick the FG I couldnt even look at the TV to see if he would miss again and started pacing back and forth. I just listened to the audio to hear he made it and they had infact won the Championship and $1500 in returns for me. I started screaming in joy and I can tell you as long as I live I will never and I mean never forget how lucky I was to win that wager and it was one of the biggest bets I had made in years too!!!



I get goosebumps just thinking of it...

Babe Ruth hits one out on a 0-2 count to win the game in extras...was at the game with my Grandson...never forget that one...

I have tried to forget about that...dumbest thing I have ever done a total juvenile gambling mistake like many of us have made at some point in our youth...and one of the biggest lessons in life...a buddy and I split on it combined for 5K just to win 500 each...thought it was the easiest money we would ever make...how could the undefeated Pats lose to the lowly Giants? Oh yea in football its the best team on that day not like in other sports where its a "best of" series that truly determines the more dominate team overall and in gerneal....ahh the days when I thought gambling was a get rich quick thing...and not to mention I had to relive seeing Tyree's fucking catch on Sportscentre for years after...

Nate, trust me on one thing.

I jump on now, Lang will steam roll everyone. Dont want to break up you all's good run

I stick to watching for now, this is the first NFL season in 20 years i didnt bet.

Gets easier not to wager every day
