These are terrible players and Javy Vasquez is a top-3 starter for just about every team in the MLB.
He does not suck, neither one of them do... Wolf was Dodgers best pitcher last year.

They suck, and neither one of them is anywhere near worth giving up Vasquez for.

T-Hans is winning a Cy Young this year.
I ain't quitting on them but every year other teams make major moves and we don't do shit or we seem to give away good prospects.

Cabrera is weak, there's average guys available in the free agent market. They should've just let him pitch this year and taken the 2 draft picks. One of the prospects they got is good, but Vasquez is proven, he's an inning eater that gives quality starts. Granderson Swisher and Nady or Gardner is no worse off.

Agree BW... if the yankees gave up swisher, it would have been better for the braves... but melky?????? bwhahahahahhahahahahaha...it's a laugher. Seriously! I can't wait to hear Red Sox fan reaction to this.

Nah they get a Derosa type or I heard Damon is considering a 2 Year 16 mil deal with a third year club option with 2 mil buyout. They Yanks are holding Left Field open for next year. They have always been enamored with Carl Crawford for years and will get him. Plus they will have to invest to keep Jeter and Mo, thus the reason for not going after a Bay or Holliday.

This was a good deal of course for the Yanks, but outside of the serviceable Melky the Braves got one ML ready prospect and a lower A ball prospect with upside and dumped salary. Vazquez will eat innings this year which is what they need. I see 15-10 low 4 ERA. The FA market was not good with Marquis and others, and broken Ben Sheets wanting 12 mil. Vazquez comes off the books next year which is perfect for the Yanks as they will then sign Beckett

what is the big deal about this trade? valesquez is an average pitcher at best in the A.L. i mean in the junior league urrrrr non-hitting NL he dominated. he was nothing short of average when he played for the bankees in 04.

Agreed, really he is a "nice" number 4. It wasnt like they gave Hanson for Melky and prospects. He is an inning eater who will win a bunch of 6-4 games. 15 wins, 10 losses, low to mid 4 ERA in the AL (and give up homers in the home ball park). He is serviceable.

FYI - He also has sucked in the playoffs so he may just be a regular season pitcher
