Amazing that he's the first from 'Bama.

Agree though, tremendous acceptance speech, showed a lot of class and emotion.

    Congrats to him!!!

Very deserving and very classy. It was definitely an acceptance speech from the heart.

Like so much in college football the Heisman award is a joke. Ingram was a worthy candidate but lets face it. He won due to one game. The SEC Championship.

          Close call

Alabama running back Mark Ingram won the closest Heisman race in history on Saturday. Here's a breakdown of the voting:

          Mark Ingram 227 1,304
          Toby Gerhart 222 1,276
          Colt McCoy 203 1,145
          Ndamukong Suh 161 815

Not saying I disagree with your whole statement, but I don't think Ingram won just on the one game.

"Ingram has been the backbone of Alabama’s offense all season, rushing for a school-record 1,542 yards, gaining 6.2 yards per carry and scoring 18 touchdowns"

All the other candidates also had similar or better stats, but my point is that he is has deserving as any of the other four.

Agree, it was wide open. Pretty nice of all the past winners to be a part of it.

In his previous game vs Auburn, Ingram had 30 rushing yards. There's no way Ingram wins off that game and if he had a nondescript game vs Florida in the SEC championship game in the big spot light.

Frank, he had one bad game the whole year. Flare, thanks for the congrats. Classy of you. The funny thing about all of the Ingram stuff is he would have never been at Bama if it were not for his mom. Back when Saban was an assist coach at Mich State, Mark Ingram Sr. was playing there, and he was dating, or married to Mark's mom. I hear Mark Sr. was a little wild in college, so Saban would call Mark's mom to find out where his dad was. A few weeks before signing day 2 years ago, Saban got a call from Mrs Ingram, and she told Saban that she's sending her "baby" down to ttown for a visit. Mark ended up coming to Bama cause Mrs Ingram said " I know Nick took care of my husband and kept him in line, so he's the only person I trust with my son. He commited a week or so before signing day, and the rest is history.

Again, not trying to cause an argument, but Ingram didn't win the Heisman because of just one game - although, no doubt, the big game against Florida helped extremely.

But against Virginia Tech he had 150 yds, Kentucky 140 yards, Ole Miss 170 yards, South Carolina 246 yards, Tennessee 99 yards, LSU 144 yards, Miss. State 149 yards and then only 30 yards against Auburn.
You don't think the games above helped his chances a little?

No argument here. Just 2 guys voicing their opinion. As I said in my first post Ingram was a worthy candidate. He had a great season. IMO if Texas and Alabama didn't play a conference championship game McCoy wins the Heisman. I believe the Heisman was won and lost on conference championship Saturday.

And I can agree with that. Its ashame that is the case.

And I still say the most important players to their teams this whole year is Spiller and Gerhart. Those two were by far the best players on average teams. If they have a bad day, they lose. Su is in the same boat. He carried Neb. defense.
If McCoy or Ingram have bad games, their team can still win.

I am glad Ingram won, especially after seeing and listening to his speech. He seemed like a very humble and appreciative young man and I am glad for him and his family.

                          Thanks Grandma,

Nice words on Nick Saban yourself. Just goes to show how important having good coaches are to these young men.

Still fading me and making $$$??

one more thing he was only rated a 3 star by a lot of rec services, and a 4 star by rivals. i read in the paper this morning that before the heisman presentation began, tebow could tell that Mark was very nervous, so Tim took mark aside, and they found a room in the building, and tim prayed for mark to find peace. you guys know i'm not the most religous guy around here, but that was a classy move by tebow. he really does care about others which is what all christians should do. I hate the guy on the field, but i've grown to like him...i would never admit that to my bama friends.
