  • Tiger Woods taken to hospital in 'serious' condition after car accident

    CBS

Professional golfer Tiger Woods was seriously injured in a car accident early this morning, the Florida Highway Patrol just reported.

Woods, 33, pulled out of his driveway in the Isleworth community about 2:25 a.m. when he struck a fire hydrant, and then drove into a tree at his neighbor's property, FHP reported.

Woods was transported to Health Central Hospital in Ocoee in serious condition, FHP said. No other information about his condition has been released.

A Health Central hospital employee said at 2:30 p.m. that Woods was not a patient. A hospital operator would not say if Woods had been treated and released.

FHP said the airbags in Woods' Cadillac Escalade did not deploy, which means the vehicle was traveling under 33 mph.

Orange County Fire Rescue received the call for aid at 2:28 a.m. Woods was transported from his Windermere-area neighborhood by the hospital's own ambulance.

FHP did not report the accident until just after 2 p.m. today. The agency said the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.

How do you run over a hydrant and then hit a tree in a neighbors yard backing out of your driveway, if alcohol is NOT involved???

Did he have a heart attack?? Gas pedal stick???

Just like Jamal Anderson getting arrested with kilo's of cocaine, and is back playing football 3 months later!! Tiger could have been drunk, and you know damn well, NOTHING would be said or result from the incident! Money talks.... ALWAYS!

Also - the accident was NOT serious. He's already been checked out and released from the hospital!

                    Nothing to see here.

He is not in serious condition. Police report any accident serious if someone requires more than minor attention. Such as going to the hospital to get checked out.

Either drunk or getting a bj IMO, lol.

No way this guy ever fucks with drugs, unless they would be performance enhancing. JMO

                        WTF,

He was unconcious for 6 min according to this article, glad he is Ok.

Now my guess is that he was having an argument with his wife, got pissed and sped off.

We may never know after they spin it.

Tiger Woods' wife used a golf club to smash out the back window of his Cadillac Escalade and get her injured husband out of the SUV after he smashed it into a fire hydrant and into a tree early Friday morning outside his Isleworth mansion, Windermere Police Chief Daniel Saylor told The Associated Press.

Elin Nordegren was in the couple's home about 2:30 Friday morning when she heard the accident and came outside.

Saylor said Woods had cuts on his lips and blood in his mouth, AP is reporting. Saylor said officers gave Woods first aid until medical personnel arrived about 10 minutes later.

A call report compiled by the Orange County Sheriff's Office and obtained by the Orlando Sentinel indicates Woods was unconscious but breathing when officers arrived on the scene. Woods was unconscious for about six minutes.

The sheriff's office would not identify who dialed 911, and emergency audio tapes were not available on Friday.

Saylor said when officers arrived they found the golfer in and out of consciousness, according to AP.

Saylor says Woods had cuts on his lips and blood in his mouth. He says his officers gave him first aid until fire rescue came about 10 minutes later.

Woods sustained facial lacerations in the one-car accident, Windermere Mayor Gary Bruhn said.

Woods, 33, pulled out of his driveway about 2:25 a.m. when he struck a fire hydrant and drove into a tree at his neighbor's property, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

Woods was transported to Health Central Hospital in Ocoee in serious condition, FHP said.

FHP spokesman Jorge Delahoz said patients' conditions are always classified as "serious" if they are transported to a hospital.

Bruhn said Woods had facial cuts in a minor accident. Woods was treated at Health Central early this morning and released.

Woods' Web site, TigerWoods.com, said the golfer was treated and released and was in good condition.

"We appreciate very much everyone's thoughts and well wishes," the site said.

FHP said alcohol is not considered a factor in the accident, and it is unknown whether he was wearing a seat belt.

The crash is under investigation, and charges are pending.

"When I first heard about it, my heart jumped a beat. But then I googled it and found a story and it sounds like he's OK," veteran PGA Tour golfer Mark Wilson said. "Knowing him, he was probably leaving for an early-morning workout."

Inside the gated Isleworth community, a security guard was standing post outside the front of Woods' $2.4 million home. A woman who answered the door at the home at mid-afternoon declined to answer questions from the Sentinel.

A black Cadillac SUV was sitting in the driveway. FHP said Woods was driving a black Cadillac SUV at the time of the crash.

There were almost no signs of an accident at Woods' home and his next door neighbor's.

An orange-and-white street barricade sat on Woods' front lawn atop a newly dug hole, presumably where the fire hydrant previously sat.

About 10 feet away, a foot-long tire mark was visible in the neighbor's yard near a tree with freshly damaged bark. That oak tree had a few scuff marks on its trunk but was largely undamaged.

The airbags in Woods' Cadillac Escalade did not deploy, which means the vehicle was traveling under 33 mph, according to FHP.

Orange County Fire Rescue received the call for aid at 2:28 a.m. Woods was transported from his Windermere-area neighborhood by the hospital's own ambulance.

According to his official website, TigerWoods.com, he is in the middle of a two-week break in tournament play. Woods next tournament is Dec. 3-6 at the Chevron World Challenge in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

Supposedly Tiger has a babe on the side and was spending time with her in Australia a few weeks back. The story hit the Enquirer a few days ago and Elin hit the roof. Thats the only way to explain this bizarre incident. She was probably planning on hitting him with the golf club (nice choice of weapons by the way) and caught the window instead. He'll never live this one down. "Yea that Tiger was a great driver of the golf ball, but not the car..." LOL...

                            Tiger's Wife Changed Her Story
Posted Nov 28th 2009 1:11PM by TMZ Staff

Tiger Woods' wife, Elin Nordegren, changed the story she told the first officer on the scene, according to law enforcement sources.

The Windemere Police Department says Tiger's wife went outside, saw that her husband had struck a fire hydrant and a tree, and then went back inside the house for a golf club to use to try and extricate him from the vehicle. But we've learned Nordegren told a very different story to the Florida Highway Patrol, and it does not involve going back in the house for a club. Our sources will not allow us to be more specific.

And we've learned there was no blood found on the steering wheel of Tiger's SUV -- putting into serious doubt that Tiger sustained his injuries from the crash.

As we first reported, Tiger had a conversation with a friend yesterday, in which he said his wife had confronted him over reports he was involved with another woman ... and that his wife scratched his face up during the argument. Tiger told the friend he then left the house, started driving off and his wife then came out with a golf club, striking the vehicle. Tiger then became distracted and hit the hydrant and then a nearby tree.

We're told cops will interview Tiger and his wife later today.

UPDATE: A neighbor tells TMZ they saw cops show up at Tiger's house this morning -- only to get turned away again. Tiger's wife, Elin, was spotted (below) driving out of the Isleworth subdivision in Windermere earlier today.

my sister has a friend that cuts Tigers hair in Orlando. She said the he asked for her number a while back, and they've talked a few times on the phone. She has stated that they've never hooked up, but if he's asking his hair chick for her digits I wonder what else he's doing. BTW, if I was Tiger, it would be hard for me to keep it in my pants all the time. I mean, all these pro stars can get it any time they want. Its hard to admit, but I think I would stray every now and then.
