  • Tennessee Football Players Face Armed Robbery Charges

    Thursday, November 12, 2009

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Three freshman Tennessee football players are charged with an attempted armed robbery.

According to Knoxville police, wide receiver Nu'Keese Richardson and defensive back Janzen Jackson and Mike Edwards were arrested after the early Thursday morning incident.

The victims told police they were sitting in their parked vehicle at a gas station near Tennessee's campus when two males, one brandishing a handgun, approached.

The two suspects demanded whatever the victims had. When the victims showed they had no money, the suspects joined a third man in a Toyota Prius and left.

Police located a Toyota Prius matching the description and the victims identified Richardson and Edwards as the men who approached the vehicle.

Officers say they found a pellet gun, drug paraphernalia and a plastic bag containing what appeared to be marijuana.

Tennessee athletic director Mike Hamilton says he is evaluating the incident

Is this some kind of Extra Credit Class at UT ??

They're not thinking. They get an opportunity to get a college degree and flush it down the toilet

Even at 18 and 19 they have to think about the consequences before they do these things. Then they do it anyway From the reports it's pretty much a done deal that it was them.

There lives aren't ruined. If they lose a scholarship they can apply for a smaller school maybe Division II.

I don't know BC, pretty serious charges. If proven true these guys will go to jail for a few years, and nobody will touch them years down the road. Very good chance they did ruin their lives.

Does a div.2 school or whould a div.2 school give a scholarship to a convicted felon if not the big question is can these guys afford to pay to go to a smaller school. Their ability to play football got them to Tennessee on scolarship(free education)to start with. No matter what this bad act on their part changed their lives in a negative way. Hate to see kids screw up like this when they have an opportunity most only dream about. A lame situation.

I'm sure a division 2 school would take the chance. We've seen division 1 schools do such things. Even if they go to jail for a few years their lives are not ruined. If they would have gotten shot and been paralyzed then yeah I would say their lives are pretty much ruined. Hopefully they will learn from their mistakes from this and become better people.

I give that about a 1% chance. This isn't a "mistake," these kids are fucking criminals. A mistake is drinking underage. A mistake is skipping class and failing a course.

Admittedly I don't know one single thing about these kids, but I'd be surprised if these kids aren't just pieces of crap. Raised by grandma with no male role models. Even marginal kids don't go out and just rob someone at gunpoint.

1% chance? Pretty harsh IMO. I would give them a higher chance than that and like you said we don't know anything else about them.

If they were UGA thugs he would give them a 10% chance

No, I'm really not a homer, it has nothing to do with where they go to school. Decent kids just simply don't commit armed robberies.........period. Steal something, maybe......DUI, maybe........fight/assault, maybe. Armed robberies.....piece of shit criminal.
