  • No Changes to MLB Replay after a Horrible Postseason

    ESPN

    Replay not getting due time?

With as many problems as the perceived poor umpiring presented during this postseason, you'd think the league would at least vote on the subject. But that's not what occurred at the GM meetings. ESPN Insider's Jerry Crasnick chimes in.

"Jimmie Lee Solomon, Major League Baseball's executive vice president of baseball operations, told reporters at the general managers' meetings in Chicago that there was minimal discussion Tuesday of expanding instant replay for 2010. Greater use of replay became a hot-button issue in the media during an error-plagued postseason for MLB umpires. But Solomon said commissioner Bud Selig and the GMs plan to take a methodical approach to expanding the current system, which limits replay to home run calls."

The Union and Major League Baseball's clubs could have some issues this winter; no resolution to the replay system isn't going to be seen as a positive to the players, and Michael Weiner has accused club executives of using the media to drive down free-agent salaries this winter.

These types of problems can prove to be disastrous if the two sides revisit the Collective Bargaining Agreement in the coming years. The MLBPA has no direct say in the replay matter, but it's an unresolved issue that can cloud up the trust between the two sides.

What a joke! It's a disgrace not to expand replay.

On a related issue. I fucking despise MLB umpires. They make too many games about them. They don't like when the players show them up yet they show up the players very often.
