Before I outrage any of the bettorschat community let me first say plaxico is and was a complete moron for carrying a concealed weapon into a nightclub and shooting himself. I cant say how many stupid things he did in committing this crime. I dont feel sorry him one bit. But the only reason he is going to spend 2 years in prison for this is because he is a professional athlete. He has no prior record. He is married has one son and another kid on the way. The mayor of new york who was completely intrigued by this case and weighed in on it, while he was ignoring his buddy bernie madoff double fucked plaxico pretty good.

Like I said I dont feel sorry for plax, he broke the law got caught,but damn to have no prior record and to be a halfway productive citizen, to get 2 years for carrying a concealed weapon seems harsh.

Professional athletes better be careful because their becoming the poster boys for politicians and their ego's.

There are lifelong criminals who have got caught with weapons get sentenced to probation and community service.

No one is saying they feel sorry for plaxico burress what I said was he has no PRIOR record and is being used as a scape goat and example for mayor bloomberg. No one said he is brilliant or bright, we said the punishemnt doesnt fit the crime and he isnt a lifelong criminal.

Now if this was his second offense or he had a prior record for violent behavior or was a threat to society I could understand the sentencing.

He is an idiot, but I feel bad for him in this situation. Our justice system is pretty fucked up. To think Plax is getting more time than Mike Vick is insane. Vick's motives were pure evil. Tank williams was caught with muitple unregistered guns and only served 30 days or so in jail. I have visited a friend in county jail in the past and its a depressing place. Too think he has to spend about 2.5% of his life rotting in jail is pretty harsh. He didn't hurt anyone or showed any signs to do so. He only hurt himself. The mayor of New York fucked him pretty bad.

The other day the guard from the Cavs was caught with 2 LOADED guns but not in NYC and i bet nothing happens to him

again ,yes he got off easy,and where i live for carrying a unlicensed firearm is mandatory 5 years.so by him carrying the gun he had the intent of using it if needed.....plain and simple he should not place himself in situations that he may fear for his life,he's just like the rest of them think ing they can do what they want and get away with it,..finally these prosecuters are getting tired of it and doing something about it

Could of been a NY state law that made him get 2 years as jordanrules pointed out, but I feel this sentence is way out of line. Ok, he had a concealed weapon and someone said he fired it. Plax didn't pull the fuckin trigger, the gun went off by accident and he shot himself.
I feel a 2 year sentence is way out of line in this case, he should of paid a heavy fine and 3 years probation. Probation SUCKS!

I do feel sorry for him, I think its bullshit to put him in prison for what he did. I am sorry, I know what could have happened if the gun shot someone else, well it didnt.

Probation, heavy fine, community service all would have been acceptable to me.

IMO, the punishment doesnt fit the crime
