  • the Sagarin Ratings Are A Joke

Some bettors actually use Sagarin's power ratings to make bets. In truth, Sagarin's numbers are often clownish.

He's never been worse than this week. He says Florida is ELEVENTH in the country.

    ELEVENTH!!!!!

He rates them only one point better than Oregon.

In the real world, Florida would be favored over Oregon by 38 points.

His rating aren't very accurate early in the season. More so when you have Florida playing opponents as 59 and 30+ point favorites.

Same applies for the NCAA polls. Early in the season they're a joke. The same historical teams like FSU and Notre Dame are voted as top-25 only to fall out within a few weeks.

Ignore them early in the season. Think about it, when a power rating is based on stats, etc the more data there is the better the number. Personally, I look at the every day on every game in basketball. In football I ignore them.
