  • No reason for anyone to still bet baseball in regular season

It is completely a guess now. good teams are losing to bad teams al lof a sudden. bad teams are now beating good teams in pennant races playing relax carefree baseball. too hard to predictable what team will show up that night. good pitchers pitching bad and bad pitchers pitching great. bullpens are at all time worst at this time of year. young kids playing great getting an opportunty. great players sucking it up in prime time playoff races. Fuck baseball for the rest of 2009.

Ps and if you continue to bet baseball. i wish nothing but great luck and continued success if you are doing well!!!! God bless boys

On the contrary. There's good value this time of year. Not all team are involved in races. This season there's only one race remaining. The NL wild card. Teams are overrated. Teams fighting for a playoff spot are usually overvalued.

Many think it's the easiest and best sport to bet. There's no point spread. The bettor only needs to pick the game winner.

It's not about outsmarting them. That sport needs to be capped illogically. Expect the unexpected. The sports bettor has so many misconceptions when it comes to capping the NBA.

They play 82 relatively meaningless games. The rest factor is overrated. In fact unrested teams outperform teams with 3 or more days rest. The rested team is often flat. In the short term ignore injuries. Teams and players step up. It's the long haul where it takes its toll. Vegas adjusts the lines with injuries. A bettor gets great value playing on good teams with an injured player.

I agree with a lot of this. The rest factor only really means a lot when teams are on the road. The capping of it is very subjective compared to things like football where you can map things out more easily. Injuries are the biggest farce ever in the NBA. Unless it is the #1 star on a team you can basically bet into it ad naseum. Most people think that the number 2 guy going down is going to hurt a five man game however most people forget about the massive amounts of bench time given to pretty much everyone.

I have to agree w/ Frankb03 especially this time of the yr. The "good teams" for the most part need to win to clinch their division and hold off the chasers, just make sure to check to see if any teams are starting any "STUD" rookies and stay away.
                      That is my IMO

IMO baseball bettors bet too many favorites. They're afraid to go against quality starters. They put too much value in starting pitching. That's where there's so much value. Beckett and Cain immediately come to mind. Both pitchers have been mediocre the last 6 weeks or so. Find a good spot to fade good pitchers. Look for pitchers with good career records vs their opponent. Compare how they do vs that team home and away.

Look at the box scores for past games. Yesterday A's game was a good example. The A's were my POD. Clayton Mortensen had an era around 7. That would scare most bettors. Looking at his box scores told a different story. In his first start back in August he was bombed. 8 runs in 4 innings ERA 18. His next start was a month later. He took the loss but pitched pretty well. 4 runs in 7 innings but only 6 hits. He makes his next start a week later. Gets his first win. 1 run in 6 innings vs the Twins in Minny. Pretty impressive. In that game the A's gave up 5 runs. His good start was hidden in the box score. He started again last night. Now he's taking a regular turn in the rotation. 5 innings 2 runs. Last night they were playing the Indians. A terrible road team. More so vs. right hand pitching. Now factor the above with Justin Masterson has been terrible. Especially on the road.

Trim we're actually at a point in the season when we know how teams and starters perform in certain spots. In that respect capping is easier not harder. It doesn't mean much when In May a team is 4-1 on the road vs lefty pitching. When we get to September and the Indians on the season are 19-35 on the road vs righties. That's meaningful. We have a full season of performance.

Trim, here's a tip for the remainder of the baseball season. Avoid all favorites especially home favorites. Concentrate on road dogs especially mid-priced dogs of 120 to 160.

This all changes the final Sunday of the season. Home teams and home favorites do very well the final day of the season.
