Why Young, Bush and Leinart went bust
In '06, Vince Young, Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart were Heisman darlings and can't-miss pros. Then they missed, Kevin Hench says.

Do you agree with this guy saying these guys are all busts?

I do not think Reggie Bush is a bust at all.

He's been to busy chasing KK. Maybe this year will be a breakout year? I doubt it. Always thought he was too small.

He has done a hell of a lot more than the other 2 guys he is grouped with.

wouldnt say he was a bust, he's still really good...i would say he is underperforming for what they thought he would do

How about some of these other rookies that have signed for big money this year that haven't proved anything. MLB has it set up better for players entering MLB.

He's not a bust. But with 20/20 hindsight he didn't deserve to be the 2nd pick in the draft.

It's too soon to classify the other two as busts. Both play for teams with very capable veteran QBs. They still have lots of time to establish themselves as stars.

I would say that Bush isnt exactly a bust as well. He does play well as a returner and when the team uses him as a receiving option he does well. it may be best at this point in his career for new Orleans to move him as a slot receiver where his height wont be much of an issue and speed/agility rule. Ala Wes Welker. They have a capable RB in Thomas.

The other 2 are busts. QB's need time to adjust and learn the offenses. 4-5 years is the typical backup time that we've seen actually work. I want to see less 1st rd picks on QB's. Let's try more linemen and receivers where the bust ratio is sooo much lower.

I just looked back at the draft in 2006 and even in hindsight there wasnt much available better than Bush, but im on the side that says he is not a BUST...he has made a positive impact on the Saints and he was a big part to them making that big playoff run...same as he was in college he is a game changer...

but how bout the fact that the TEXANS made the best move of the draft taking MARIO WILLIAMS...all the talk around here was Vince or Bush when all in all its turned out to be a no-brainer WILLIAMS was the right pick...

I think that is what overshadowed about that draft. The Texans made the best move of all when everyone else thought they were idiots.

They sure did huh...its nice to see a few analysts eating a bit of crow now after the crap they were saying when Texans took Williams...Ive been to a couple practices this year and Mario looks great, the dude is a BEAST, with a bit of help on the other side he should get close to 20 sacks this year.

Im thinking maybe the teams these guys played in college made these guys look better than they actually are. All 3 of these guys played on great college teams and they may have reaped some of the benefits of that. In college there are teams that are far superior to other teams talent wise, in the pros the talent for the most part is pretty even, so they dont have the advantage of going against much weaker oppenents. Just my opinion

Exactly it takes a team not one player.

I agree 100% I remember how much criticism the Texans were getting for selected Williams. They made the correct move.
