  • A New Test For Baseball

We all know about random drug testing in baseball.
Since it seems that the Sox hitters haven't gotten a run since Thursday, I wonder if they are perhaps hitting with blindfolds on, which are so small, they can't be detected by the naked eye.
I think in view of this, MLB and the Players Association ought to come to some kind of agreement to allow for anonymous random blindfold testing so that pitchers don't have an unfair advantage.

    Varitek 37
    Lowell 35
    Ortiz 33
    Drew 33

Recently, there's was an article online and I believe it was posted here at BC that historically baseball players (pre-steroid era) begin their decline about the age of 33. The above players represent roughly 40% of the Red Sox lineup.

Varitek is about 40 points below his career batting average. Drew more than 30 points. Ortiz better than 60 points.

I am sure that is true.
That is why it critical that teams who want to succeed with consistency have to develop their own young players in their farm system as well as of course supplementing this with established stars both from within and other organizations.
