"I lied to your faces, twice. I made fun of and ridiculed people who take steroids, when I did them myself. I'm a liar. I'm a fraud. I am suspending myself for 100 games."

I can guarantee he will say none of the above.

I'm kinda thinking he will say "I told theo last night that if he would trade John Smoltz's sorry ass then I would admit to everything I have done.I lied to all the fans and am a piece of shit for taking steroids but hope you forgive me since I helped get Smoltz run out of town.I hope we can move foward"

He could go up there and say:

"I'm glad I did them, I lied to all of you, I don't give a shit, I got us a World Series, deal with it."

The fans would still love him. It's funny, it's come to the point where doing steroids isn't a big deal. Because the fans just don't give a shit.

I would go out and by me an Ortiz jersey if he said that.

Glad he waited until he got to NY to decide to do this...idiot! Just what he needs- he stinks (I have officially changed his name from 'Big Papi' to 'Big Pop Up'), his team is reeling, and now he is going to unleash the NY media on this? Genius move!!!! Can't wait until Monday?

Guys, it is the most hypocritical and hilarious thing.

Watch the first inning of the Yankee game tonight......

Big Papi is mercilessly booed and jeered when he gets to the plate, but you can bet your ass in the bottom half of the inning, those same fans will cheer the fuck out of A-Roid.

It's just comical. I went to a Yankee game, two weekends ago, A-Rod hit a homer to break a scoreless game in the 7th, the place ERUPTED! It's such a joke. Apparently no one gives a shit if you cheat, as long as you are on their team.

Well I care for one, and I feel any athlete including Ortiz ought to be ashamed of himself if he knowingly took PED'S.
As others have said and I fully agree, lets cut out the bullshit and release the ENTIRE list of the 100 or so players on that list, get to the bottom of this and move forward.
If I was commissioner, I would suspend someone from baseball for five years if not life if he got caught using them starting today.
I am anxiously awaiting what he says;hopefully if he did knowingly take what he did with the intent being to make him a better and stronger hitter, then obviously a full disclosure and apology is in order.

                  1. The list should NOT be released, unless the players agree.

                  2. Banning players for five years who used, would make baseball a AAA game and talentless.

                  3. Let's not beat around the bullshit, he knew what he took, he knew he was on roids, and he lied to your face. He's a liar, he looked right into a camera and lied to your face. Just remember that when he gives his sob speech, about how sorry he is.

Why should the players have to agree? If someone commits a crime, is brougbht to trial and is later found guilty in a court of law, should the media need permission from his lawyer or the defendant himself before releasing the name of the person involved, the evidence and decision by the jury?
I stated 5 years suspension to indicate how serious the offense is in my mind by its making a mockery of a game.
The more I think about it, the more I am sure I would make it a lifetime suspension and post this in every clubhouse and locker room.
They banned Pete Rose for life for gambling on baseball;in my mind this if far worse and the penalty should be the same.
You are probably right about Ortiz knowing what he took;I simply want to hear what he says before passing judgment.

Because, as I'm sure you know, the players agreed to take these tests under confidentiality. No matter how bad the crime is, you have to honor that promise. In fact, for leaking the names of A-Rod, Ramirez and Oritz, can be held legally responsisble.

Not sure, what you are talking about in regards to a jury, that doesn't really have a place in this issue. But maybe you are talking about something different....

I am just stating that is unfair for leaks to take place and a few players take all of the blame;it is time to release the list now;this happened in 2003.
If the players on that list are clean now, good for them-they have nothing to worry about.
Perhaps the jury part about guilt is not appropriate, but the names of the person accused of the crime is not.
Most players make untold millions of dollars and want more and feel that by "keeping up with the Joneses" they can make more;they rationalize it by saying that if they don't take the PED'S while others do, their own money making potential will suffer because their performance will not be as good as though that do.
The fear of a lifetime suspension hopefully will make any player think twice before using them, because then their earning power/potential in baseball will be ZERO and it will no longer be an issue of trying to make more millions than they already have!
Of course,it goes without saying that at least some of this don't want to pay inflated amounts of money to take our families to a ballgame when there is this kind of deception going on.
Have to go-can't respond to anything until later on.

I agree. They need to release the entire list so everyone can move on. This releasing one or two names is a joke.

I mean does anyone care anymore about Arod testing positive in 2003? In a few weeks another name will be release then no one will care about Ortiz.

Yes, you're right it is ridiculous. But it would also be ridiculous to promise someone confidentiality, only to take it away 5 or 6 years later. If the players agreed, then by all means, relase the names.

Yeah but the confidentiality has already been violated. More than once. Release them all so we can move on. The players haven't committed a crime. They're not getting suspended for the positive test. Let's put it to rest once and for all.
