I love how the SB Winner has one of the easiest schedules!

Look at the NFC North strength of schedules. Detroit at 0-16 and they have the "hardest" schedule while the rest is all at the bottom It helps to have to play each other twice

All 4 AFC East teams are in the Top 7

The Top 8 are all from the AFC East and the NFC South. They happen to play each other this year too.

SOS from previous season record is meaningless.

I agree but look at Miami's schedule last year and look this year. It is a lot tougher. Did they make the adjustments to handle it? Maybe, but i don't think so.

Kinda reminds me of Browns two seasons ago. In 2007 they were 10-6 then 4-12 last year. Dolphins will face a similar fate.

The Browns are a great example. Some could say it will happen to Atlanta this year but i see them differently. They added a nice QB and a very good RB last year and they added a pretty good TE this season. They keep improving IMO.

I agree that SOS is meaningless.

Look at last year, the Steelers had the toughest SOS in the league going into the season, lost 2 starting OL's for the year, lost both starting RB's for most of the year, and had no punter all year, and all they did was win yet another Super Bowl.

Going into last year the Dolphins looked like an ease W, as did Atl and both teams made the playoffs and SD and NE looked tough going into the year and both had off years. That's what makes the NFL so great. You have no idea who is going to win the SB this year, and there are prob 20 teams that have legitimate shots. Classic example of why their salary cap works, and why MLB is such a pathetic joke.

Schedule is predetermined so there's not much they can do. I used to look at a schedule before every season and pick Ws and Ls...didn't take me long to realize that was a waste of time.

It is predetermined but it is determined that if you finish 4th in your division, you play all the other supposed bad 4th place teams in your conference. It is predetermined to a point but nobody knows the 2010 schedule yet. It does give shitty teams a chance to get better and it does make the 1st place teams all play each other the following year.

The reason that the NFC South champion is always the last place finisher from the year before.

Exactly. The following year they play teams like Detroit and St Louis is things are suddenly great again.
