Did you say handful, but mean ass load? You're kidding right, those are the only two players you would trade for Beckett? What about Lincecum, Cain, Santana, etc etc etc

Dont get him started again. He said in that Polls thread that he would NOT trade Beckett SU for Lincecum AND Cain. Seriously, he said it and he's serious. Go read that thread from the last couple days!

I addressed this in another thread with Waybe-maybe straight up for Santana because he pitched successfully in the AL but for any other NL pitcher with no experience in the AL and especially at this critical juncture of the season, no way(including the guys on SF)-too many possible adjustments and remember the emphasis is winning a WS THIS SEASON.
Without Beckett this season and for the last couple, the Sox would not have done as well as they did.
If I HAD to make a trade and I was forced to take a pitcher and was forced to choose one, he would come from AL(or Santana)-there might be a few hitters out there I would reluctantly choose besides Pujols, but pitching is and has always been the name of the game, and as stated Beckett is and has been the backbone of the Sox pitching staff.

As stated, Beckett has been and has been one of the most successful starting pitchers for Sox in years(Pedro was the other) and is battle tested and has been extremely successful.
I wouldn't gamble that one or two very good SF pitchers could IMMEDIATELY step up in BOSTON and do the job for THIS season-facing NL opposition opponents in the NL West with virtually no pressure isn't "quite" the same as pitching in pressure filled and demanding Boston fans against the AL East oppositon.
After the season ends, I might evaluate this, but for this season no way in hell would I trade Beckett except for equal value-very few by my criterion meet that standard.

OK so traded wasn't the right word, you meant if you needed to win 1 game, who would you start. I agree, I would start Beckett over Linc and Cain this year. I'd say
1. Santana
2. Halladay
3. Sabathia/Beckett
4. Verlander
5. Haren

Not eaxctly-I meant that if any deal was offered to Sox for this season and had to be done before July 31,and the Sox goal ws to try to win a WS for this season (which it obviously is), there are VERY few pitchers or players I would do the deal with-Halladay, Pujols and Santana(not that he was mentioned) are the top three in my view, and actually if Theo was offered any of the three, I think he would turn them all down other than perhaps Pujols.
There is no way in hell he would trade Beckett straight up for the other guys you mentoned prior to 7/31.

If i had to start 1 guy in 1 postseason game, I would go with Beckett over everybody. I would, for 1 game. His postseason record and success is amazing and i will take that. Sabathia has folded like a tent EVERY time he pitches in the postseason. Maybe he's too fat, i don't know but there is no way he should be on the same level (3) with Beckett.

We agree on this for sure-there are at least 10 pitchers I would choose before Sabathia for one game, and yes Lincecum and Cain are included in the ten for sure!

Besides, Sabathia is the 3rd best starter on his own team right now. I wouldn't even put him in the conversation.

Lets say you MUST trade Beckett even up for anyone in Boston before 7/31 and you can have your choice of anyone whether it would be pitcher or every day player-who would you take if you are the GM of the Sox?
My answer (and this is a little bit contradictory as I think starting pitching is critical) would be Pujols, because I think a big spark to that offense would be needed to compensate for the loss of Beckett.

If i had to trade Beckett SU for any player in the League. My 1st choice would also be Pujols. I would put him at 1st and i would move Youkilis to 3rd. I would then go give the farm to Toronto for Halladay!

I agree-see-you and I don't disagree as much as you think. lol
ps Believe me if I thought it was guaranteed that Lincecum and Cain could do for the Sox immediately(and that is key word) what they have done for SF, any GM including Theo would be stupid not to accept that deal-I myself am not so sue that the transition would be that easy, and there is not really that much margin for error at this point of the season(speaking of that,I sure hope that if Smoltz bombs again tomorrow), they take him out of the starting rotation;as you know his 1-5 in his starts up to now doesn't cut it).
