  • Report: Red Sox Make Offer for Halladay

Made this is why Boy Wonder won't trade Bucholz for Martinez?

Report: Red Sox make offer for Halladay
Yahoo! Sports reports the Red Sox have offered "at least three players -- pitcher Clay Buchholz, Triple-A pitching prospect Michael Bowden, and top outfield prospect Ryan Westmoreland -- to the Toronto Blue Jays for ace Roy Halladay, according to a source with knowledge of the negotiations."

The report says, "Because the Blue Jays, who are vigorously shopping Marco Scutaro, are also looking for a shortstop, the Red Sox may be trying to draw a third team into negotiations to satisfy Toronto's need."

The report by Gordon Edes says, "Daniel Bard and his 100-mile-an-hour fastball have been declared off-limits by the Red Sox. So has Casey Kelly, the team's No. 1 pick last season who is torn between pitching and playing every day at shortstop."

Andy Martino of the Philadelphia Inquirer reported today that the Phillies and Blue Jays were "still actively talking, despite some reports that negotiations are breaking down. That's according to a person with direct knowledge of the process."

I wouldn't trade Bard either but i would give them Buchholz, Bowden and Kelly in a heartbeat. I heard that was what Toronto wanted and Boston said no. I would do that one!!!

Buchholz, Bowden, and Westmoreland would be a very nice haul for the Jays. If that's a real offer, Ricciardi should seriously consider it.

We agree 100% on this one-Beckett and Halladay I would venture to say would win the poll as to the best duo in baseball all things considered over Lincecum and Cain.

I thought you meant that you wouldn't swap Beckett for Halladay.
I was simply taking things a step further and saying that if Beckett and Halladay were on the same team(the Sox), that they would win the original poll as to which pitchers formed the best duo in baseball.

I doubt the blue jays will take this offer. Halladay is signed through 2010 so there isn't a rush right now. They want as much as they can get for him. I think Boston would have to throw in a few other prospects or at least 1 other MLB player.

I doubt it too, although I think it would be an incredible steal for the Sox if the Jays accepted the offer.

IMO Halladay is slightly better. Beckett is 3 years younger. I'd have to agree with you. If I had to choose I'd choose Beckett.
