They need 1 SPer and possibly a BP arm.
They have the 2nd highest SP ERA in the NL if I'm not mistaken. They were something like 79-0 last year when leading after the 8th and I think they've lost 7 or 8 games already this season under the same circumstances.

I attended last night's Sox's game, and all I can say is that out of all the games I have attended over the years this has to rank as probably the worst performance of a Sox team.
They were shut out for only the second time this year.
If they ever threw out the lineup they did last night on a regular basis, they wouldn't even finish at 500;as soon as I heard Lugo was in the starting lineup, I had a bad feeling that it would be a long night.
Granted, Pedroia was out due to his wife's pregnancy, but Youkilis, Lugo, Green and Bates-other than Youk, that is pretty horrible as a starting lineup, and sure as hell won't win you any WS.
The only good thing about the game was seeing Nomar rightfully get a standing O for over a minute, getting a couple of hits and seeing Cabrera hit a home run when the game was essentially over(my wife is from Colombia and knows the family).
Oh yes, I know it is early but Smoltz look horrible, and it is my opinion that he ought to retire, and or the Sox should use him in some other short term relieving capacity(get rid of Saito, and use who also looks and has looked over the hill and use Smoltz in hisplace for example).
Weatherwise it was a beautiful and warm day and night-its too bad the Sox had to spoilt it with one of their worst performances of the year.Last edited by savage1; 07-07-2009, 11:54 AM.
