A-Rod has started hitting over his backhand much much more, rather than slicing most of them back. That used o get him in trouble, always hitting with slice becaue he was to cautious or sometimes just too lazy. Now he's hitting with two hands and driving the ball, even hitting bullets down the line and opening up the court or just plain hitting winners. His movement is still about average, but his backhand aggressiveness has been the big difference in his game. and today, Andy's volleys were exquisite.

I think Roddicks service game is his biggest improvement. They have been talking about his serve through this whole tourney and saying he now has the best serve in the game. He looked like he was firing bullets off that racket. What a cannon for a serve. He had a personal best 43 aces in his last match and his service game was DEVASTATING again today. Hammering that 1st serve over sets everything else up.

ESPN said Federer was 18-2 all time against Roddick. Either way, it will be a steep mountain to climb. Federer is getting older and Andy seems to be playing his best tennis. If there is ever a time for Roddick to beat Federer in a GS Final, this may be it!

He has always had a HUGE serve that has been his strength from the time he turned pro. Sure it has gotten a little better however his main improvement is definately his backhand which has typically been his weakness....
