He's more then a good Joe he is one of the best forwards in the league. He has scored more than 30 goals per season in almost all of his 11 NHL seasons. Here are his career NHL stats:

I think Sather has done a crap job with the Rangers, spending money foolishly and eating up value cap space, but he deserves a medal for unloading Gomez! Not only does he rid the team of an underachieving malcontent but he gets the Habs to pay all of his salary, opening up $5 million to spend foolishly again, but also gets the Habs #1 pick from 2007, 12th overall I think, who is only a junior in college. Even if it doesn't pan out, the cap space alone is invaluable.

And while they needed toughiness, and Brashear is as tough as they get, it kills me after the cheap shot he took in game 7 on the Rangers.

Dont pay a ton of attention to hockey, but watch a little, is it me or is the Hossa deal crazy i know hes ver y good but, 12 years for a guy thats already played 11 seasons. I guess if hockey contracts arent guaranteed its not a huge deal.

Stunned by Habs signing Gill, grossly overpaying. That's a franchise in dissaray. For that money, they would have been much better served signing Scuderi.

Good for him to cash in like that, but $2.5 mil for an aging, sloooooowwwwwww Defenseman is amazing to me. Clearly Montreal is looking at Pittsburgh, Wash and Philly and have their hands firmly on the PANIC button.

I am not too high necessarily on Gil either...

I agree he is very slow...but does have some shut down ability...probably not worth as much as we paid him but what can ya do....

I dont know a whole lot about fantasy and market stuff in reference to the NHL however I am pretty sure it has to do with the salary cap. What the Red Wings have done with several of their players is what teams are trying to model from. I think if you lock players up for longer terms you can spend more or its kind of a way around the cap kind of thing? Dont know for sure though....
