Baseball draft: No. 1 draft pick Stephen Strasburg of the Washington Nationals is among best of the best, agent Scott Boras says
Agent Scott Boras says No. 1 overall pick Stephen Strasburg is "a different breed of cat," worthy of a contract far above those of this year's other draft selections.

Of course Boras is going to say this as he wants every cent he can get. Doesn't this guy have enough cash already.

All high draft picks are supposedly the real deal and most of them never pan out.

Exactly. Anyone remember Brien Taylor? Ask the Yankees how that worked out. And guess who his agent was. The Nats are in a no win situation. If they sign him for the huge 50 mil or whatever it is, they're going to get killed by baseball execs, owners and players for destroying the draft salary system. If they don't sign him, what's left of us Nats fans are going to bail out on this team because it will show a lack of committment by ownership and 2 straight years of not signing the top pick. I think the best thing would have been if there was a way to trade out of this pick and get several parts to rebuild with. But for some stupid reason you can't trade draft picks in baseball...

I am an Orioles fan. 20 years ago they drafted Ben McDonald out of LSU. He was supposed to be the highest rated pitcher that was ever drafted, a can't miss prospect. Well guess what, Ben did miss. The most games he won was 14 in a year. He was out of baseball after about 8 years or so.

I like when Boras pushes for more money, these clubs make so much money it's ridiculous, if they're going to spend an excess amount of money on something, I'd like to see it be spent on the players.

Hopefully this kid can revive the Nats, it's a pity to see such a low turnout at every game in Washington. It's our Nation's game, played in our Nation's capital, and they can't even draw 10,000 for a game.

Was that the lefty back in the early 90's? If so he got into a fight at a club and tore his rotator cuff. Don't think he ever even pitched in the MLB.

Rumblings and Grumblings -- What if Washington Nationals could trade Stephen Strasburg?
Opinions vary on what Washington could get in return for its No. 1 pick
