In the last 20 years this league went the WWE route and right into the shitter. Thugs, punks, 98 year old refs who cant remember the ACTUAL RULES of basketball. 99% of these 'players' today wouldnt even be considered for a ballboy job back in the 80's and the other 1% would be just role players. 1 guy makes a fucking shot today and they cant even just run back to the other end of the court without doing some stupid fucking playground dance and talking shit.

Thats why when I want a real good laugh, I'll have my wife call the relative who works for the WWE and get me ring side seats

        • just an FYI. It did NOT hit the rim. I've seen it a dozen times on replay and in slow motion another dozen times. You'd have to be helen keller to think it hit the rim. Clearly hits the bottom of mid to bottom of the netting.

Why does this happen time and time again in the NBA ?

We have seen blown calls it the NFL -- But its like 2 times a year

It seems like there is contreversy in every fuking NBA playoff game !!!

Rondo making people bleed no suspension - Howard gets a suspension and Kobe dosent

All these "contriversial" calls always seem to favor the Lakers, Celtics , Cavs etc.
nfl is about 2 times a game.

              • I am really an outsider and was watching the game. I did not care who won or lost. But I did see the shot in question. There was 2 reviews. To me the first angle looks like it grazed the rim slightly changing the ball movement down. The second one appears it hit net. It was a hard call I am sure. I highly doubt in my opion that there is a conspiracy on this. Just my 2 cents.

I dont think anyone is really claiming conspiracy

Just a bad call at the most critical point of the game.

                  1) You cant reverse the original ( correct ) call

                  2) Why not take the time and review it on the monitor

Yes, brilliant. Instead of correcting the problem, fixing the state of the officiating, we should quit gambling.

When you spend time capping a game and lay a nice chunk on it , it would be nice to let the players and teams determione the game for once KB.

Maybe you dont listen to sports talk radio , or watch ESPN.

This shit with the officials is going on 3-4 years now

GG, isn't this claiming of a conspiracy? I agree the officiating is far from good but I would like to think it is just bad calls...heck, some of the banter in here was that Stern wants 7 game series as they mean $$$$. If that was the case, they definately would have called the intentional foul on Dallas at the end of game 3. I very well may be naive, but I hope it is a matter of officials just not doing a good job. I think you can find bad calls/no calls for and against every team. This one stands out a bit more, as you mentioned, because it was crunch time.

Cheating occurs all the time in sports, mistakes occur all the time also. It's my opinion that the cheaters are more than happy to let you believe that when they cheat, it's simply a "mistake."

That call was completely obvious, and the replays were there for reviewing as many times as necessary. You'll notice it's awfully easy as a referee to change a call in favor of the home team...everybody cheers, the people who are pissed are not in the building.

I believe the goal was to make sure there was a game 6 in orlando with celts up 3-2, giving the best possible chance for a game 7. That is a different motivation than the bookie motive...but it's cheating all the same.

Whether there is cheating in the NBA or not is already 100% clear -- there is. The question is only whether or not you want to believe it's just one rogue referee, or if there is more to it than that.

The point to the doubters is not that the NBA said ahead of time YOU MUST LET THE CELTS WIN. It is, if it's close, and there is a call that can help it go towards game 7, make the call. And they did, even though they knew as well as we did that ball never hit the rim.

I don't agree at all. If that's the case, why have there been so many series sweeps over the years?

Your thinking is that the league wants a game 7 for revenue and what not. But that hasn't happened many times. Sweeps in the playoffs are common.

SO why would the 'league' or Stern for that matter chose this game for a 7 game series?
