  • Alston, Fisher both suspended 1 game by NBA

Magic's Alston, Lakers' Fisher will sit

    ESPN.com

Orlando Magic guard Rafer Alston and Los Angeles Lakers guard Derek Fisher have each been suspended one game without pay for their roles in separate incidents on Wednesday night, Stu Jackson, NBA executive vice president of basketball operations announced on Thursday.

Alston has been suspended for swinging and making contact with the head of the Celtics' Eddie House with 48.6 seconds remaining in the third quarter of the Magic's 112-94 loss to the Celtics in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Fisher has been suspended for striking Houston's Luis Scola with his shoulder and head in the third quarter of the Lakers' 111-98 win last night over the Rockets in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals.

Fisher received a flagrant foul two and was ejected.

Jackson also announced that the Lakers' Kobe Bryant has been assessed a flagrant foul one for elbowing Houston's Ron Artest in the chest area in the fourth quarter.

Alston will serve his suspension on Friday when the Magic host the Celtics. Fisher also will serve his suspension on Friday when the Lakers visit the Rockets.

yet, if Artest was the 1 throwing the elbow at the rapist, he would have been suspended a game too. Another free pass by Uncle Stern to this overrated POS

If you suspend Kobe you might as well hand the Rockets game 3. I don't think thats how a series should go down.

I have not looked at Alston's stats but doesn't that kill the Magic in the next game? You lost Jameer and Lee is still not 100%. It seems to me that it would really hurt Orlando?

They did the same thing to Dwight Howard !

Do the Lakers and Kobe get special priviliges ??

Speaking of getting suspended, how Rajon Rondo has not missed a game yet this postseason is beyond me...... That guy is a thug.

Kobe should have been suspended based on league rules. He clearly threw an elbow and hit Artest in the upper chest.

I agree! There's no doubt if it was Artest that threw the elbow he would have been suspended.

completeley right frank the rule clearly states you throw an elbow it's a 1 game automatic suspension.

doesn't matter if your name is kobe, well i guess it does because as everyone has already said and of course i agree if that was artest of course he's suspended and probably before he even gets back to his own lockeroom.

the alston play was just flat out stupid. Fisher was flat out dirty, and that really surprised me i have never seen him do something like that. has he ever had a run in like that, anyone ?
