When you couple that with his shit attitude towards his teammates and manager at times, his value is actually in the negative in a much bigger way then the absurd contract alone-he is to put in bluntly, a cancer who brings a lot of negative karma to the team-perhaps that should have been included as a reason for the collapse of the Sox this season in the other thread.
No matter what it takes in the way of eating his contract, this guy has to go as soon as possible.

A.L. Ranks entering today ......
Avg. .319 (5th)
HR 28 (8th)
Hits 199 (2nd)
RBI 98 (8th)
Runs scored 114 (2nd)
SB's 37 (4th)
OBP % .376 (9th)
Slugging % .543 (6th)
OPS .918 (6th)
I think the other guy would be Granderson but i don't like giving it to a guy hitting .268 and he has 161 K's to Ellsbury's 92
Ellsbury also has ZERO errors in the OF this season and Granderson has 3
No doubt my homerism plays in to it and Granderson is ahead of Ellsbury in some stats but he is also well out of the Top 10 in others too!

Even though it wasn't a playoff game, it sure felt like one and it brought almost the same set of feelings watching it as game 7 in the ALCS in 2003 when Aaron Boone hit the home run off Wakefield in extra innings to win it for the Yanks-tonight it had a much happier result.
I may be biased also but Ellsbury is as deserving for the MVP as anyone out there.
If Granderson gets it, I won't consider it highway robbery, but boy the way that Ellsbury came through tonight to save the season at least for now(in addition to the two home runs in a losing cause in game 1) really swhat he is made of.
I think for all intensive purposes Gonzalez and Pedroia are no longer front runners because people doing the voting are human and tend to remember what players did last, and lets face it Gonzalez and Pedroia along with the rest of the team faltered badly in September.
